This is a large beautiful building on the outside, with an interior to match. Two large studded oak doors swing open to reveal a huge room three storeys high, with towering bookcases for walls on the right hand side. These book cases each contain sliding ladders in order to retrieve books from the highest regions.
Two large long floor length windows allow light to stream in at the far end, separated by a large portrait of a rearing white stallion. On the left hand side, the book cases are only half as high, as there is another level reached by three winding staircases. This level hangs almost like a large inside balcony over the rest of the library. Up here there are large tables for the more studious person.
Plush red sofas appear in clusters around the library offering a comfortable place to sit and read. The library contains thousands upon thousands of books, so it is highly unlikely that you won't find anything that you like!

Scarlet walked down the city streets deep in thought, coming to the conclusion that she had acted rashly back in the city square. She had been attempting to save any awkwardness between her and Drakan, but had just made things worse. I always do this...she thought angrily to herself Just as I was starting to make a friend...now I have no-one to explore the city with... and Drakan was going to show me the sea, she thought forlornly. Well, I'll just go back and apologise! she decided, then stopped. Right...so, where exactly am I? she wondered looking around.
A large building towered before her: The library. She paused, wondering whether to go in or not, then decided she might as well; Drakan would have left the fountain by now, so she would have to find him at the stables later. She opened the doors and walked into the impressive room. Two large windows, offered a magnificent view of the palace, as the setting sun tinged everything a warm orange colour. She liked the library, with it's silence and peacefulness. After a few minutes quiet observation, she began looking for a book, climbing the large sliding ladders to reach the highest shelves. It's a good thing I'm not afraid of heights! she thought to herself, as she hung onto the top of a ladder, one-handed, with three books under her arm.
Once back on the ground, she found an empty sofa and collapsed into it. Three books lay beside her, one a fiction adventure about a dragon rider, the other a book about Dragons and the third, the thinnest of the three, was a copy of the army rules. She read the rules first, then opened the adventure book. Before long she was so absorbed, that the words on each page were no longer just words but moving pictures that gripped Scarlet, transporting her away from the sofa in the library.

Meredith tied Raindrop to a post before the library. She had wished to see her brother, but she learned that he was away. Seeing as how her brother wouldn't return from army duties for a long while, she might as well explore the city. The library was the closest, and books intrigued her, so she entered. The rain from before had stopped and she removed her waterproof cloak, with water still slightly dripping onto the floor. She left her bow on the horse and walked in without any weapons, but for a few potions tucked away. The emblem on her robe was the symbol of a priestess of the Water Goddess, so that everyone could tell who she was clearly.
Glancing around her eyes landed on the elf who was reading. Curious, she walked over. Being careful to whisper, she inquired, "Miss, who may you be? I'm Meredith. Meredith Emerion, priestess of the Water Goddess, if you're interested in titles and such." She smiled and added, "I'm new at the city and I'm waiting for my brother to return from army duties. It'll take a month, I heard."

Scarlet almost levitated out of her seat at the sound of a voice behind her. She stared at the girl with a blank expression, wondering where she was. It only took only a few moments for her to compose herself, remembering that she was in the library.
"I'm Scarlet," she replied, in a low voice, shuffling along in the seat so Meredith could sit down. Her eyes flicked down to the emblem on Meredith's robes, as she mentioned she was a priestess. "I'm new here too," Scarlet said, when Meredith had finished intorducing herself, "I sort of got lost in the city, and that's how I ended up here!" she put the books on the ground, so they were out of the way. "I'm thinking of joining the army as Dragon rider" she explained, in case Meredith was wondering why she had so many books about dragons. "What does section of the army is your brother in?" she asked, wondering if he was also a Dragon rider.

"Swordsman," Meredith replied softly. "He's thinking of continuing as a Dragon rider, since he's a page now. Well, I guess joining the army is the main reason people come to Arinesse. I get the feeling I'm the only one who has come to Arinesse for a purpose other than the army."
She sat down and looked over Scarlet. She was graceful and slim like any elf, and there was something about her that felt trustworthy. Glancing at the books that were just pushed aside, she added, "You know...I might join the army too. As an archer, seeing how that's the only thing I can do." The sunlight from one of the windows was making odd patterns on the floor. They were dancing around.
She smiled. "What do you think being a Dragon rider will be like? I've never seen a dragon, not mention try to ride one. I understand that there'll be a link between the rider and the dragon, or something of the sort." She chuckled at her own ignorance.

Scarlet mulled over what Meredith had said about the army. "Yes, I suppose a lot of people join the army. I think it's because, when you're in a new place, joining the army helps you feel like your part of something...if you know what I mean..." Scarlet finished: "Everything's different here, than where I came from."
As she talked about archery, Scarlet nodded, meredith was slim built, but her arms looked strong and that, combined with a good aim, would make her a perfect archer. When she mentioned about Dragons, and Scarlet's eyes lit up.
"Well, my father was a Dragon Rider." she replied, feeling a familiar lump in her throat as she tried to remember. She had so few memories. "Not that I remember much about his Dragon, although I was reading in this book that a Dragon and rider share a mental link, so they can share thoughts and communicate like that, even when their far away. Still, I have to make page in another section first, and I haven't decided which yet, I'll recruit as soon as I've decided though..."
Scarlet decided she like Meredith, as there was something in her air that made her feel at ease, like the polite way she spoke or the way her voice softened when she talked about her brother, whom she was obviously close to.

Meredith listened attentively to Scarlet explain about dragons and their riders. She nodded a bit in between, to show that she was listening. Listening to her mention having to make page at something else, Meredith said cheerfully, "Well, if it's archery, then you can come to me!"
The mention of reaching page made something else click in her head. "Scarlet...Do you have any magic? I only know a bit of alchemy. Basic potions with a specialty for healing potions." Meredith stopped, suddenly remembering something. "Oh...I must be distracting you from your reading. Or did you come here for a different purpose?" SHe remembered the look on Scarlet's face before she came to talk. There was something troubling her before, but now, her elvish eyes held all signs of that back.

When Drakan walked through the huge doors to the library, he realised finding Scarlet in here was not going to be as easy as he first thought. He decided to walk round in a large coircle to see if he could see her. As he walked throught the corridors and passages filled with thousands of books, he was in awe. Where he came from there hads not been a library and never before had he seen so many books. He decided to come back here at a later date to relax with a good story, he also wanted to read up on the wars of the past, to see if he could find anything out about his father. After about half an hour Drakan gave up on looking around the library for Scarlet and decided to leave.

"Magic? Well, I have the ability to use magic, as most elves do, but I've never been trained so I don't know how good I am. Although, I did once set something on fire when I got angry. That reminds me, even if you have no magical powers, that's another thing you get from being a dragon rider..." she asked Meredith a few questions about her alchemy.
"Well, if you wanted to improve your magic, when you reach page in archery, you could become a mage...it's an option at least."
"And no, you're not distracting me! I've probably been here for far to long anyway, I always lose track of the time when I'm reading. I'm probably distracting you, or did you not come here to read? The library's such a beautiful building though, so I wouldn't blame you if you didn't!"

"Well, I'll leave anyways," Meredith replied. She smiled, "I'm going to explore the city." She got up and smoothed out her robes. "Hopefully, I don't get lost as I usually do," she added, laughing quietly. She headed for the door and gave Scarlet a quiet farewell. "I hope I see you again, maybe in the army. I'm staying at the Fair Dragon Inn."

"Oh, Goodbye," Scarlet replied and watched Meredith leave. The Fair Dragon Inn she mused, I think I ought to book myself a room as well...
She scooped the books into her arms, then returned them to their shelves. Doubling back, she collected her bag from the seat where she left it and slung it over her shoulders. She'd left the bulk of her things in Embers stable, as it had seemed as good a place as any. Scarlet slipped out of the library doors into the cool evening, and hurried along the road, in what she hoped was the direction of the inn.

Nelra walked into the library. She'd recently been accpeted into the Calvary division of the army, and was going to transfer to the Dragonriders as soon as it was possible. For now, she was interested in finding anything and everything that she could on dragons and dragonriders. The only problem was that she didn't know where anything was or where to start looking.
She decided that she may as well start at one end of the library and work her way to the other. With her mind made up she set off to right, stopping once she reached the last shelf. She then began her search, working her way up and down the rows, pulling out any book that appeared to be useful. Finally, after what seemed like hours, she decided she had enough books to start with. She took her stack of books and dropped them on a table, then pulled up a chair and sat down, picking up the first book on her stack. It was a book on the History of Dragons. A good place to start, she thought to herself. She opened the book up to the first page and was soon immersed in her reading.

Carmen gracefully walked onto Arinesse's giant library. She saw rows and rows of books. Wow, She thought. It is a Library, Nexa said in her head. Carmen laughed, but was then silenced by a look from the Librarian.
Carmen walked through the isles full of books. There were various titles, such as,
Slings and Slings, by Madeline Alford The Cloud of Wisdom, by Dewitt Tory Page The Domestic Use of Magic, by Tex Bolton
After "The Domestice Use f Magic" passed Carmen's eyes she took it off the shelf. It was a sort of old book That was covered on dust. Then she noticed a 1 at the bottom and saw a number 2 on the book next to it. A series? The title was
Defance against Dark Magic, by Tex Bolton
And next to that was 5 more books to Tex Bolton's series of Magic books. Carmen took all of them from the shelf and left a huge gap in the books. Then she heard something behind her. Carmen turned around, all of Tex Bolton's books in her hands, and faced the Librarian. "Are you going to read all of those?" She said in a snottish voice. "I'm planning to," Carmen replied in a cheery voice. The Librarian walked away silently, keeping her eyes on Carmen as she turned the bend. What a crazy women, Nexa said in Carmen's head, making her giggle again. She sat down with her seven books about magic and began reading.
Chapter 1 - Magic History....

Zyanya pried her eyes off the book she was reading as she heard giggles fill the silent room. It bugged her little, but what caught her attention was the purple dragon that was standing by her side. ‘A Dragon?’ she thought while her eyes filled with question, ‘they allow those dragons in the library?’ she raised an eyebrow and slowly closed the book.
It was mainly review for her, a book that was focused on creating medical potions. Really, she only picked the book up to brush up on her knowledge and see if there was any new developed potions she hadn't already known of. She knew that section all too well, and just as she thought there wasn't any, so a distracting from her reading was what she had been hopping for. She slowly stood from her chair and cautiously walked over to the girl and her dragon, “What’s its name?” she asked resisting the temptation to lean over and pet the dragon. She pulled a chunk of her hair over her shoulder and started to comb through it with her fingers.

Carmen looked up, hoping it wasn't the librarian. Nexa snorted and turned away, but Carmen said, She doesn't know, in the dragon's head. "Her name is Nexa," Carmen said. "And just so you're aware she can understand humans. She put her book down and stood up putting her hand out in greeting. "I'm Carmen Jewel. What's you name?" She was trying to be friendly.
It, came Nexa's annoyed voice in Carmen's head. She didn't know, Carmen replied. She should still be a little more courteous. Carmen stroked Nexa, making her calm down a little. I didn't know what gender you were until you told me. Nexa then bowed her head to the new girl.
