There isn't a finer place to come if you're looking to buy a horse. Some of the horses have been bred from wild stallions and mares found in the surrounding woods, whilst others have been shipped in from surrounding areas. The shop was started up by Lady Alianna, when she came to Erivale, and she can usually be found there, tending to the horses.

Drakan spotted the Horse shop before anything else. Leaving his own horse behind in his village was something he believed he would always regret but at the time it seemed like the only way. He kicked at the ground with his dirty boots, deep in thought. A noise broke him from his gloom and he looked up to see a female with long hair tending to a horse in one of the many stables. Shaking any lingering thoughts of his past from his head he went over and offering his hand said "Hi, I'm Drakan Thrice. I'm new to Erivale"

Lady Alianna looked up from her work, silently cursing to herself that this man had managed to catch her unawares. She studied him for a second, then dusted her hands on her trousers before shaking his. "Lady Alianna of Faydell," she replied formally, though not unkindly, "I take it you're here looking for a horse?" She swept her hair away from her face, leant back against the stable door and waited for the man, no, elf - she corrected herself quickly as she recognised his distinct fair features and the tapered ears- to reply.

Realising his mistake in addressing this woman so informally, Drakan , embarrassed, bowed his head slightly and then replied "Yes, due to a sudden departure i had to leave my own horse behind. I was hoping for one that was reasonably young? so that it could be trained easily? Although i would not mind so much if it were older..." Looking again Drakan wondered how he could his mistaken this lady of obvious class for a mere towns person. Her clothes were made of much finer cloth than most folk would wear and she could obviously afford to wear fine clothes when merely looking after horses. After a moment or two Drakan dropped his gaze from Lady Alianna, hoping she hadn't noticed and kicked the floor with his boots. Suddenly remembering who he was in the presence of, he stopped and brushed himself down. Once again he was embarrassed to be in such poor clothes in comparison to this fine woman. He wondered what she thought of him.

Alianna watched the man shift with unease, she hadn't meant to make him feel uncomfortable. She walked out of the stables, heading towards the surrounding paddocks and indicated to Drakan to follow her.
"I have three horses that I think may suit you." she said, and stopped at the gates to the second paddock. "These two young males over there," she pointed to the far end of the paddock where two male horses grazed on the long tufts of lush grass that grew there. One had a rich brown coat, tainted only by a long white mark that started from the tip of his muzzle and ran up his head. The second male, had a coat the colour of polished ebony. "Both of these horses were bred here in Faydell, and although there parents are wild, these are both fine horses. Surefooted and obedient, both of which are important qualities, I'm sure you'll agree." She glanced towards Drakan, allowing a small smile to cross her lips as she watched him gazing at the horses. Tilting her head to one side, she asked:
"I assume you wish to have a horse to train in the army? These horses are as good as any for that, but I do have a mare battle-horse, who is of a much stronger build. It is quite up to you." she leaned back on the paddock gates, watching the two males who had stopped grazing and were now trotting around the field, nickering playfully to each other.

The smile that Lady Alianna showed made Drakan feel slightly more comfortable. He had thought she found him far too dirty and poor to be around, but the more she spoke the more his opinion changed. He looked into the paddock a tthe two male horses. It had been his idea to join the army, but mostly he wanted a horse as a companion, like his old one used to be. "I think i'll take the....copper coloured horse" he said slowly indictaing the brown horse. He smiled as the horse came closer to him. Reaching out his hand, he let out a soft clicking sound which the horse instantly responded to with a gentle whinny. Drakan continued clicking and the horse gently trotted to the fence. Patting the horse softly and not taking his eyes away, he happily said "yes. i'll have this one." As if he understood, the horse whinnied again before galloping back to his playmate. Drakan turned back to Alianna to see her reaction.

Alianna was taken aback by the elf's ability to call the horse over, but she maintained the calm demeanor that she used when talking with new people. However she couldn't help feeling slightly drawn to the elf for some reason. Perhaps it was that his connection with horses was similar to her fascination with the beautiful creatures. All the same, she was intrigued by Drakan.
"You have a way with horses," she observed softly, watching the elf, "And I think that he will make you a worthy companion." she added. She could hear the sadness in the elf's voice when he spoke of his old horse, and she knew how all to easy it was to become attached to horses, so she was glad to be selling one of her finest steeds, to Drakan.
Both horses had come over to the gate now, rubbing their velvet muzzles up Alianna's arm, then realising she had no food to offer, turned to Drakan out of sheer curiosity. She unlatched the gate, and placed a single hand on the chestnuts muzzle. The black horse watched as his companion left him with a sombre glint in his eyes.
"If you could lead him back to the stables" she asked Drakan politely. The chestnut's soft intelligent eyes watched Drakan inquisitively. Alianna turned back to the other horse, and ran her fingers through his mane. "We'll find you another playmate, don't you worry about that." she whispered. The horse shook his mane, then cantered off to the other side of the field to inspect a young mare in the neighboring paddock. Alianna turned to catch up with Drakan.
"Do you need any tack?" she asked.

Drakan noticed as the young lady watched him call over the horse. He could see she was impressed. As he led his new horse away from the paddock and to the stables he heard Alianna whisper to the horse. Instantly he realised that horses were companions to her too, and he couldnt help but feel closer to the pretty woman. Turning back to his horse he wondered of names but was interrupted by a question from Alianna. "Tack? yes. once again im afraid that was left behind too...In fact there wasnt much i did bring" he said indicating the small bag over his shoulder. They reached the stable and Alianna supplied him with everything he needed for his new horse. He thanked her greatly. "is there anywhere around here a person can stay?" he asked shyly. " As i said this is my first day in Erivale and i have no home or even a job yet. I am intending on joining the army, but i think im going to need to make money first. maybe theres a job around here i could take up? I'm quite good with my hands and i could probably work a trade quite well. Maybe something like a.." Suddenly realising that Lady Alianna probably didnt want to know his intentions in Erivale, Drakan trailed off and looked back down to the floor. Why must i always do this? he asked himself As soon as i feel someone gives me half a chance, i ramble on about anything and irritate them. Angry at himself, Draken kicked the ground, harder than usual, and let out a small cry of pain. Feeling even more a fool, Drakan turned his back and began to walk away...

Alianna decided to ignore his cry of pain, not wanting to dent his pride.
"Wait!" she called out to him, as he turned away, surprised at the urgency of her own voice. "If it's a job your after, I'd suggest looking in at the Employment office, in Arinesse. Perhaps a job such as Royal stablehand may be availiable, and with your talents, I'm sure you'd be good at it." she let her gaze fall from his face to the in the direction of the city then continued,
"As for a place to stay, there is an inn at the city, or if moneys a problem..." she hesitated, not wanting to appear rude, "Well, the inn at Swyncrest is cheaper." she smiled reassuringly.
"Well, it was nice meeting you Draken. Take good care of your horse, and...if you ever need someone to talk to..." she inclined her head, then turned on her heel and walked back into the stables.
(OOC: Drakan, half way through your posts, you've started spelling your name DrakEn instead of DrakAn. Just thought I'd let you know!)

Elizabeth walked into the Horse shop, looking around. I wonder if I can get a horse here? She thought. She walked farther in and saw a woman at the desk. "Excuse me," Liz said, trying to get her attention. "I would like to buy two horses," she said respectfully. Then, out of habit, she tried to read the women's thoughts. When she realized what she was doing, she drew her mind back and blushed.
"I'm sorry," she said, not knowing if the woman had noticed.

Alianna looked up to the woman who had just entered the shops. She smiled at the newcomer, then felt her mind being brushed. At first, she assumed it was her dragon Garnet, but when it withdrew so quickly, she realized it must be the girl. Interesting she thought to herself A Thought Mage... As a mage herself, and acting commander of the mages in Erivale's army, she was always on the lookout for new talent, as it were.
The girl looked embarrassed that she had touched her mind. And rightly so thought Alianna. It was considered impolite between mages to enter anothers mind without permission. Alianna, however, let this pass, as she assumed the girl had received no training.
"Don't worry!" she replied, with a reassuring smile, then addressed the girls request. "Two horses? Are they both for you then?"

"Oh," Liz said in response to the Lady's question. "No. One of them is for my brother. I thought they would help us travel to the city." She still felt guilty for reaching Lady Alianna's mind. That was how she knew her name. "We're going to the city to join Erivale's army." She knew that she couldn't lie to Lady Alianna, one of the best Mages and Dragon in the land.

"This way then," Alianna replied, leading Elizabeth outside to where she kept the horses. "I think these might interest you." She took her to a paddock containing two horses. "Their brother and sister," she explained, "The white one with the brown patches is a female, and the brown one with a few white patches is the male. They both have nice temperaments, the male perhaps is a little unruly though."
She paused, "I have other horses if you don't want these, just tell me exactly what you'd like. Which division of the army were you hoping to join?"

Elizabeth followed Lady Alianna towards the horses. She watched them run around the paddock. They both looked quite nice, and friendly. They both reminded Elizabeth of herself and Matthew. She longed to reach out and touch their minds. She wanted to become one, careless and free. Liz's blue eyes sparkled at the thought of being a wild horse. She looked away, and didn't want to put saddles and control such free creatures.
Liz then looked to Lady Alianna and said, "They are beautiful. I don't know if I'll be able to even put a saddle on one of them," She sighed. "But they are really nice horses, so I think I'll have to take them." Then she asnwered the question about the army. "We're both hoping ot join the Dragon Riders division, after I do Archery and Matt does Swordsman. I has always been our dream to become Dragon riders," She smiled at the thought.

"Well I wish you luck in the army. We will meet again if you reach the dragonrider division, as I'm the acting commander for the time being."
She whistled softly and both horses came trotting over to the gate which Alianna had already unlatched. She led one horse back to the shop whilst Elizabeth held the other. Both the horses were inspecting Elizabeth, sniffing her fair hair with their soft noses. Alianna smiled,
"Right, so we just have to sort out the payment and then you can take your new horses to show your brother."
