This is where you can request an audience with the Sovereign. He is pleasant and approachable, but despite his young, handsome exterior, he is wise beyond his years. He can appear stern at times, but is a good strong leader as the decisions he reaches are always fair, just and with Erivale's best interests at heart. The Soverign is seated in a large majestic, although somewhat uncomfortable, throne. Two guards are usually stationed either side of him, unless he wishes for a private counsel with someone.

Lady Alianna's long dress flew behind her as she made her way towards the throne room. Two guards hurried alongside her, struggling to keep up with her pace. As they reached the door, she reached out to turn the handle. On of the guards stopped her.
"I have orders to consult with his majesty first, before allowing anyone through..." he said, unable to look Alianna in the eye, but instead staring at her legs.
"Even me?" she answered, a cold edge to her voice.
"Yes my lady" he replied, looking up at her.
"So be it." she agreed reluctantly, then waited for one of the guards to enter. She inspected a nail, waiting for him to return, and it wasn't long before she head hurried footsteps and the door swung open. The guard bowed so low, his long nose almost reached the ground.
The doors closed behind her and Alianna stood at one end of the throne room, The Sovereign perched on his throne at the other end. She smiled, leaving all the formalities that would usually be expected. They had no audience.
"It's been too long Valros.." she said softly, approaching the throne.

Valros practically leaped from his throne when Lady Alianna walked in. He hadn't seen her much of late, his own duties interfering with any non-Sovereign related matters.
He walked towards her and they met in the middle of the room. They stood a small distance away from each other and looked each other over, as if trying to find any noticeable differences since they had last met. Valros smiled his normal half-smile, and then held his arms open to her.
"It has indeed," he replied, as they embraced in a tight hug that lasted longer than a normal greeting.

Crythis made his way up to the palace. It's daunting majesty left him feeling rather unimpressive in comparison, almost shaking his resolve. After a brief hesitation, he approached the guards in front of the throne room. He had left all his weapons behind in his room, which he had never done before, and dressed in the nicest clothes he could afford with the remainder of his money. "I am Crythis, a traveller from far off lands, and I wondered if it would be possible to have a brief audience with the Sovereign?"

The guards outside the Throne Room looked Crythis up and down. At first inspection he appeared to be unarmed. One of the guards cleared his throat.
"The Sovereign has a guest at the moment, may I ask what it is you wish to discuss with him, and if it is of great importance?"
The guard looked at the door. If The Sovereign had been with any other guest he may have interrupted, but he knew that people like Lady Arianna was an exception.

"Oh!" Replied Crythis, "I am terribly sorry, there is no need to interrupt, I will just come back tomorrow, as there is no great urgency to the matter. Thank you." The guards seemed to think this would be okay, and watched as Crythis walked back out. Niether of the guards recognized him, and they wondered who this unknown person was, and why he had come here.

Alianna sat down beside the Sovereign.
"It's been weeks since we last spoke, but I suppose you have been busy. I hear there have been a lot of army recruitments recently."
She smiled, playing with the sash of her dress. Why was she making smalltalk? She had known Valros for years, but for some reason, today she felt nervous around him.
"But how have you been Valros?" she asked, letting her eyes meet his. "You, not the Sovereign."

Valros smiled to himself. Alianna never tiptoed around asking him how he was. He realised how much he missed her. They didn't get to see each other much, as he had his duties as The Sovereign and she had her own with Faydell.
"Oh I'm fine," he began, earning himself a disbelieving glare from Alianna. He shrugged slightly. "You know how it is, you're surrounded by advisors and such, but it's not the same as being with your friends. It seems an eternity since I spent time with you and Christoph."
Valros didn't like to complain, but he knew that Alianna would understand. He loved being The Sovereign, and he loved Erivale, but there were certain parts of his role that weren't so favourable.

Post by Earl Christoph von Trapp on Aug 9, 2006 15:28:31 GMT
The Earl strode down the corridor, his cloak whipping behind him, in what he hoped was a menacing fashion. He reached the door to the Sovereign's room. The guards didn't move, but stood barring his way. He cleared his throat which prompted one of the guards to say: "His Highness is not to be disturbed, he is with a guest."
Christoph raised his eyebrow, allowing his monocle to fall from his eye and hang from its chain, the glass (it had no prescription, for he only wore it for show) clinked against one of his buttons, as it swung back and forth. Leaning closer, he peered imperiously at the man who had spoken until the end of his nose was dangerously close to the guard's eye.
"Perhaps you are new here. I am Earl Christoph von Trapp, and if you do not remove you large body out of my way, I will remove it for you." he said, his voice always calm and polite, despite what he was saying. The guard moved aside, armour clanking as his knees knocked together. The other guard however, held his ground.
"The Sovereign is not to be disturbed." he said loudly, puffing out his chest. Christoph rolled his eyes to the top of his head and inhaled deeply. He smiled politely, gave a mocking bow, then turned as if to walk away. The guards triumphant grin soon vanished when the Earl spun around and with tremendous agility elbowed both guards out of the way and opened the door at the same time.
"Valros my friend!" he cried, a large smile on his face as the doors swung open "And Lady Alianna, it's been too long!" He strode towards them, whilst replacing his monocle and added to Valros, "I'm afraid those men outside are not very good guards, I mean, I could be anyone coming here to attack you. Luckily for them, oh and you of course, that I was not a complete lunatic!"
He swept his cloak aside and sat on a stool close by, crossing one leg over the other in a manly fashion.

The last thing Valros had expected was for Earl Christoph von Trapp to burst through the large wooden door at the other end of the room. The second the doors sprang open he jumped from his seat, and instinctively took position in front of Lady Alianna. When he realised that the person entering the room was Christoph, he relaxed.
He smiled to himself as the Earl began to talk of the incompetence of his guards. They both knew that although Christoph had managed to get past them, it didn't neccessarily mean that anyone else could.
Sitting back down, he looked over to Alianna, who was also smiling at Christoph. They all knew who the talkative one in their friendship was.
"So, Christoph, how are things in Swyncrest?" he asked. He saw Alianna look down and smile. He realised why a few seconds later; asking Christoph a question like that could result in him talking for a long time. As much as he was enjoying his time with Alianna, however, he had missed the time the three of them spent together.

Rose hitched up her long, pale purple skirts as she hurried down the corridor to the throne room with as much elegance as she could muster considering the situation. A runner had been sent to her room over an hour ago asking her to find The Sovereign and although she had acted upon it straight away and knew the palace like the back of her hand, the building was very large and there were numerous rooms the Sovereign could have been in.
Finally, she arrived at the throne room, a little out of breath but still looking presentable. "Is Valros in there?" she asked the guards, glancing at the door behind them anxiously. "Yes, Your Highness." they replied in unison, and stepped aside to let her pass. As the doors were opened for her, a huge smile spread across her face when she saw who her uncle was in audience with- Lady Alianna and Christoph, both of whom she considered as good friends and confidants. She gathered that Christoph had been retelling a story, as when he swiveled in his chair to face her, his mouth was still wide open as if he'd stopped mid-sentence.
"You asked for me Sir?" she said, standing before the Sovereign, her hands clasped before her.

Valros smiled at Rose when she entered, and motioned to a chair, indicating that she could sit down. Although Rose was his neice he treated her as if she were his own daughter, and enjoyed having her around the palace. She'd always got on well with Christoph and Alianna too, which he was grateful for. His only regret was that she didn't get the opportunity to leave the palace very often, and he felt it was time that she discovered more about Arinesse and Erivale.
"Rose, I'm glad you came so quickly," he said, pausing to think how he was going to tell her about his latest plan. "Now, it's soon to be your birthday, is it not?"
Rose nodded, looking at him expectantly. He smiled, glad that Christoph and Alianna were also present, as he had not yet had chance to tell them too.
"Well, we are going to hold a ball in your honour to celebrate, and so that you can meet some people your own age from Erivale before you go out into Arinesse yourself," he paused to see her reaction. "What do you think?"

Rose's eyes widened as the news sank in and then she flung her arms around the Sovereign in a muffled thanks. She had known that she was allowed to visit the city at her next birthday, and although she was excited, she had also been nervous at the prospect of not knowing anyone in a city where she'd lived her entire life, yet didn't know it at all.
"Thank-you." she repeated, releasing the Sovereign, still unable to wipe the smile from her face. "Oh, I have to find something to wear!" she added quickly, as an after-thought, "May i be excused?" Without really waiting for an answer she backed away and half curtseyed. "Alianna, Christoph, You're invited too you know!"
She turned away and hurried from the throne room, past the two door guards who both wore a bemused grin as they watched a flurry of skirts disappearing up the hall.
