Meredith answered, "Not in the Army yet. I can't do much in the Army anyways with my small frame. Only thing I'm good at is archery."
"As for the Divisions, there's Archery, Cavalry, Swordsman, and Spies. After you get to Page rank, you can become a Mage or a Dragon Rider. The good thing is, there's training. So if you don't know how to use a weapon, they'll train you. If you're planning on Archery, I can teach you," Meredith said, smiling.

Trysten listened quietly as Meredith explained about the Divisions. He thought about his own skills and realised that his main strengths didn't involve weaponary at all. He hoped it wouldn't hold him back. He looked up at the sky, and saw the stars between the branches of the tree above them. He was slightly amazed that he had managed to meet two new people already. Talking to strangers wasn't something he was good at. But he had promised himself a fresh start in Erivale, and so far it was going well. As he thought about the different Divisions in the army he realised that he would never be able to join the Spell Mages. It didn't bother him too much, but he had never really thought about it before.
He looked at Meredith. "Can you use magic?" he asked.

"Uh...Just alchemy. I mean I can make simple potions, but my specialty is healing potions. It's not strong enough to become a mage," she replied. She looked up at the sky once more. The sun was gone, and the sky was dark. If she didn't leave now, she would never find her way back to the inn.
Glad that she had two friends already, she smiled. However, she couldn't stay all night. Actually, she thought, sleeping in the park wouldn't be too bad. She got up slowly, "Well, I have to leave soon. The sky is dark and I don't know how to get to the inn, remember? If you guys need to find me, I'll be at the inn. And based on today's conversation, I'm joining the Archery Division tomorrow." She grinned. She turned around and left, heading for the city square.

Trysten raised his hand as a sort of wave as Meredith got up to leave. The night air was cool, but it was warm enough to be comfortable. He looked at Laielyn who didn't look like someone who was about to leave anytime soon. He lay back and looked at the leaves on the tree above him. The moonlight caught them at such an angle that they seemed to be illuminated. He sighed, contently. He was glad that he had arrived at Erivale. He had been travelling for so long he had been starting to doubt that he would ever get there. He glanced over at Laielyn. "Are you really planning to stay here all night?" he asked her.

"Thanks, but I really need a division that doesn't require any physical strength at all." Laielyn frowned, pondereing over which division would suit her best. She was a good rider... maybe the cavalry was for her? Shrugging her shoulders, she thanked Meredith again and promised to contact her if she decided upon the archers. "Good luck..." She murmered as the girl left. She liked her; she seemed a lot more wholesome than Laielyn was, but she was so friendly it was hard to find anything to dislike. And besides, it was always interesting to meet another magic user.
She returned her attention to Trysten, watching him gaze up at the silvery trees. "I guess so. I don't have anywhere else to go, it's too late to find an inn cheap enough for me... Besides, this is something of a challenge." She said a little mischevously. "When I left home I promised myself I'd do all sorts of new thigns, and this is something I haven't had the courage to do yet. I suppose it's been easier with other people here. But it'll be fun!" She hesitated, musing over the assumptions she had made when she had first sseen him sleeping against the tree. "So were you not planning on staying here?"

Trysten realised that he hadn't actually told Laielyn that he now planned on staying in the park too. He propped himself up on his elbows. "Well I didn't really plan on staying here so late, but I also didn't mean to fall asleep for so long either. So now I'm here, I might as well stay. There doesn't seem much point in trying to find a room now," he told her, hoping that she wouldn't mind him staying there too.
He leaned back again and relaxed. He had never minded sleeping outside. There was nothing bad about watching the stars. Laielyn seemed to be comfortable outside too.

In the morning, Crythis strolled into the beautiful park. Before he decided what he wanted to do in this city, he thought it would be a good idea to talk with more people, and this park seemed an ideal place to meet people. In fact, there were two people who seemed to have spent the night here. He grinned and decided that he wanted to meet the people who are comfortable sleeping outdoors within a city. So, he waited, humming a tune, to greet them when they woke.

"Well I'm glad to hear you say that!" She said sleepily. "You know, safety in numbers and all that. You never know what sort of cretins might decide to attack us while we sleep..." She smiled, and then gave a wide yawn. She did love being outside, under the stars. She could - and , in the past, had done - spend hours just looking up at them and dreaming of adventure, wondering just who else was thinking that same question. She yawned again. "We should probably try to get some sleep now." She suggested. "But we could carry on talking in the morning if you wanted to." She listened to Trysten's reply, and then drifted off into a very comfotable slumber... *** The elf awoke early the next morning with a sore back and a stiff neck, but over all feeling cheery and ready to spend longer exploring the city, as she had intended to do. She looked over at Trysten, wondering how much of a morning person he was and when he would wake up. She ran a hand through her fair hair - which had somehow come out of its ponytail - and, sighing, looked about the park, wondering what would be going on that morning. She caught sight of a man sitting a little way away from them, and wondered what he was doing there. He seemed to be paying some attention to the pair sleeping outside, and she wondered what had attracted his attention before kicking herself for her own stupidity. Of course sleeping outside would make them stick out like a sore thumb. Laielyn debated briefly whether to speak to him, but decided to wait for Trysten to wake up before she did.

As the daylight fell across Trysten's face, he began to wonder why he could feel grass beneath him, and not the familiar feeling of a bed, until where he was began to come back into his mind. As he opened his eyes he saw Laielyn, already awake, sitting close by. Her attention seemed to be focused on something.
Trysten sat up and looked around. There was a man a short distance away, who seemed to have taken interest in them. Tysten leaned back slightly and looked at Laielyn. "Hey," he said, sounding slightly croakier than he had intended. He cleared his throat. He felt surprisingly refreshed for someone who had spent the whole night with their head on the root of a tree.

Crythis watched as the two slowly roused themselves from sleep. He smiled at them, hoping to not give any kind of creepy impression, as he stopped to watch a hummingbird flitting about some nearby flowers.
"Hello there, you two." He called to them, "Wonderful morning today isn't it?" He smiled and gave a little wave.

Meredith walked into the park carrying her bow with her, expecting to find her two friends waking up about now. They were still there alright, but some other man got there first. Getting a closer look, she recognized him as the blond man yesterday who had helped give her directions.
Seeing her friends wake up, she said, "I thought you two would still be here. I wouldn't feel right going to join the army by myself. I was hoping you guys would come with me, I mean, if you were planning on joining the army."
She turned to Crythis and asked, "I'm sorry. It was late yesterday, and I don't believe I got your name, sir. And thank you, for the directions. I'm Meredith, in case you forgot."

Crythis turned to face this new arrival . "Ah yes, Meredith," he said, flashing a smile. "It looks like you managed to find the inn without difficulty, though your friends here apparently had some trouble as well," and gave a light laugh. Addressing the group he said, "As for introductions, my name is Crythis, and I am pleased to make your acquaintances. Is it true that you are planning to enlist in the army? If so, might I accompany you there? I am interested to see what options are available for one new to this land."

Trysten looked around, slightly confused. For such an early time of day there were a lot of people around him asking a lot of questions. He tried to take in all of the information whilst waking up at the same time. Laielyn seemed to have noticed his confusion, but he hoped that the others hadn't. He didn't want to appear stupid to strangers. He cleared his throat again. "Yes, excuse me. I'm Trysten," he said, looking up at Crythis. Trysten was aware that he was still sat on the ground, but he didn't make any move to stand. Instead he remained looking up at Meredith and Crythis, knowing full well that he must have appeared slightly odd for doing so.
"I had intended to join the army, but I do not know if I will do so yet. I think I need to get my bearings first. What about you Laielyn?" he asked, addressing the elf who was sitting near to him. Trysten hoped he didn't appear rude, but he did not like to be rushed into things.

Laielyn watched these goings-on with a faintly amused expression on her face. To be honest, she was only vaguely aware of what these two newcomers were saying, but she rarely paid full attention to what anyone was saying and was used to getting by on jumbled up sentances and half-caught words. Trysten beside her seemed to be attempting to take it all in, and she hoped that the sea of questions and information washing around them wouldn't prove too much first thing in the morning! Seeing her companion remain seated, she did likewise.
"Good morning," She beamed beautifically. "It's good to see you again Meredith, and I'm always pleased to meet someone new, Crythis. My name is Laielyn."
The elf paused, trying to briefly assess Crythis's character; a game she liked to play upon meeting people. Perhaps she had been a little hasty in being wary when she had seen him watching them earlier, for he did seem friendly enough. "As for the Army..." She mused, trying to make a quick decision. "I'm not sure I want to enlist in the King'd Guard just yet... I'm fairly sure that I will become a Mage eventually, but as you may have gathered from yesterday - " She smield at Trysten and Meredith - "I'm still not entirely sure which division I initially need to join. So I think I'm going to start by exploring the city today. If any of you wanted to join me, please feel very welcome." She finished with a shrug.

"Oh, so you are not actually residents here yet? Well, in that case, I'd love to join you all in epxloring this city, if you'd have me." He gave a hopeful look. He chided himself for looking weird by hanging out near the sleeping pair. He'd have to come up with a less weird way to meet people... ah well, they seemed nice anyways, and helpful, polite people are a rarity. "Perhaps, then, on our walk, you could regale me with the stories of your respective journies to this city, and of your homeland. I love a good tale, and since I lack my own, I am particularly interested in those of others, such as yourselves." Crythis smiled and hoped he hadn't come on too strong.
