This road passes through thick forest. Although the track is wide and well worn, at times when the road is at its least busy, either dawn or dusk, bandits have been known to operate there.

Trysten had decided he would explore some of the area outside of Arinesse, as it was such a nice day, so he set off down the road that lead to the small village of Faydell. He had overheard someone mention that the village was a nice place to visit outside of the city, and he thought that he might as well have a look.
He walked steadily down the path, observing the scenery around him, as he began to journey deeper into the forest. He turned around to see how far he had come and noticed someone in the distance. An idea came into his mind. Hoping that the person hadn't yet spotted him, he quickly ran into the forest and began to climb a nearby tree. He sat on a branch overhanging the road, with his body shielded by the bulk of the tree. He was in the perfect position. He could easily see anyone coming down the road, but with any luck they wouldn't spot him. All he needed to do now was wait...

Scarlet walked down the road to Faydell muttering under her breath. For some reason, she convinced herself not to take her horse, but walk instead. She had to admit, the woods were beautiful, but they would have been equally as beautiful on horseback.
The track had been well worn, deep grooves where carts had run up and down, tracks showing the many horses, and many separate footprints running in both directions. Most of the tracks were faint, as the wind had blown dust to fill them, but some fresh tracks which Scarlet had been following since Arinesse stopped suddenly. Scarlet stopped too, curious. She looked closer, the tracks didn't stop, they just lead into the forest.
Bandits? Scarlet thought to herself. She stood silently, listening. Nothing, except the normal forest noises: birds calling, grasshoppers...then a shadow on the ground caught her notice. She warily looked up into the tree.
On seeing a man, she screamed, and reached for her sword. Realising she'd left it behind, she swore loudly- and dived into the undergrowth along the side of the road.

Trysten silently cursed himself for making such a rookie mistake. He should have known to make sure his tracks werent obvious, but he didn't think someone would have noticed. The elf, who was now hiding in the undergrowth, was smarter than he had anticipated. He sighed. He hated it when things didn't go as well as planned. Silently he swung down from the tree, and landed crouched on the ground. If the elf wasn't watching then she wouldn't have known he'd left his spot in the tree.
He stood up. Walking over to the spot where she had dived, he began to explain himself. "I'm sorry if I startled you," he began, trying to sound friendly. He didn't make a habit of going over to complete strangers, but he could hardly leave her thinking that he was some kind of thief. "I'm not a bandit. I was just... enjoying the view from the tree," he frowned at his own words, knowing how stupid he sounded. "I didn't mean to scare you."

Scarlet emerged from the bush, her cheeks flushing a bright red when she saw the man, who although was dressed in dark clothes, was clearly not a bandit. Twigs and leaves stuck at odd angles from her hair and clothes, and she had a long smear of dirt along her arm. If she was the other man, she would probably have burst out laughing at the sight.
"Scare me?!" she cried, somewhat hysterically ripping twigs from her hair, "You almost gave me a heart attack! I could have killed you...well, not intentionally..." she trailed off, pulling herself back up onto the track.
"My magic works with my emotions, like when I'm angry or..well, scared. I can't control it. I suppose I was lucky this time, my reaction apparently wasn't to attack you...but to dive into a bush instead. Which is not something to be proud of!" she added, lightheartedly.
"I'm Scarlet" she held out her hand. Then paused, and pulled a stinging nettle out of her sleeve, wincing slightly, before re-offering her hand.

Trysten smiled to himself at the sight of the slighty bedraggled elf emerging from the shrubbery. He felt slightly guilty at having caused her to dive into the bush like that, but he was more annoyed at himself for being caught out.
He listened with a bemused look on his face as she explained about her magic, and took her hand when she offered it. "I'm Trysten," he said "And I'm glad you didn't kill me. It wouldn't be a good way to start off in Erivale. But I am sorry for scaring you, and making you dive into the shrubbery..." He rubbed the back of his neck in an embarrassed sort of way. He didn't get embarrassed very often, but he did feel bad for causing Scarlet trouble.

"Oh it's alright," said Scarlet, fully recovered, "To save me any embrarssment later can you make sure I have no more twigs or leaves on me?" she spun around, so Trysten could check her back. She hardley wanted to arrive in Faydell looking like a walking plant.
"So, Trysten...I hope you don't mind me walking with you to Faydell, just to prevent me from leaping into the undergrowth of course." she said, then smiled.
"Are you from Faydell, or Arinesse?" she asked, wondering if he was just visiting, or returning home. Then she remembered. She had seen him before in the city square, just before Drakan fell into the fountain.

He was a little surprised that Scarlet asked him to remove any left over twigs from him Trysten smiled at Scarlet as they began walking at a leisurely pace in the general direction of Faydell. It was only when she asked whether he was from the village or the city that he realised that she didn't know he was new to Erivale.
"I'm not from either, actually," he began to explain. "I came into Erivale and Arinesse a few days ago, and today I decided to leave the city to see what's outside."
He looked at Scarlet and he had a strange feeling that he'd seen her somewhere before. Then he remembered that she had been one of the elves that he had seen in the City Square on the day that he arrived.
"I saw you a couple of days ago, actually," he started, before realising it sounded a bit like he may have been spying on her. "I was in the City Square and you were with another elf... I wasn't spying on you or anything..." he trailed off, knowing that he was digging himself into a hole.

"I remember seeing you there too," Scarlet admitted, "I was with Drakan and Laielyn, Drakan's the stable master so you might have met him." she looked at Trysten, as unobviously as possible, not wanting him to think she was staring. He was tall, with dark hair. Scarlet smiled to herself.
"Have you joined the army? It seems most people I've met are planning on joining...infact, i joined this morning."
She wondered what division would best suit Trysten. Archers or Spies she decided on, but apperences could be decieving...

Trysten smiled slightly. "Actually, the main reason I came to Erivale was to join the army," he told her. "I really want to join the Spies Division."
He looked at Scarlet. He guessed she must have been around the same age as him, and she was one of the prettiest elves he had seen. He coughed slightly.
"I haven't met Drakan. I don't have a horse, so I haven't been to the stables yet. He seemed... fun," he said, hoping he'd chosen the right word to describe him. "Which Division in the army have you joined?"

Spies Divison she thought to herself. Yes, Trysten would make a good spy, he had the natural build of one. She remembered the way he had dropped down from the tree with ease.
"Drakan is...well, Drakan. He's easy to talk to and he was the first person I met when I came here." although she wondered if Drakan and Trysten would get along if they met. From what little she knew of both of them, it seemed that their characters were very opposite. "I've joined the cavalry division," she continued, "But that's not what I really want to do. I think I've got my heart set on becoming a Dragonrider, like my father. Although, I'll need to reach page in cavalry first."
A group of three wild horses burst from the woods one side, and galloped across the track, disappearing into the undergrowth in the other side. Dust settled to the ground.
"Do you know what there is to do in Faydell? I mean, except the wild horses, I know it's famous for them."
As she said that, Faydell came into view a little way down the road. It seemed a quiet sort of village on the outside, with pleasant views.

Trysten smiled slightly as the wild horses ran past. He had never owned a horse before. He thought about what Scarlet had said about becoming a Dragon Rider, and wondered if it would be very difficult to own a dragon. He was more one for working alone. It suited him better.
"I'm not sure what's in Faydell," he admitted, "I just thought I should explore some places outside Arinesse. No doubt there will be a tavern or something there, if you felt like getting something to eat?"
He wasn't particularly hungry, but he was quite thirsty and thought going somewhere to get a drink would be a good idea. He liked Scarlet; it wasn't everyday he found someone who he could jump out on and still talk to afterwards.

[OOC: Oki, I'll reply here, then we can carry on there]
The mention of food reminded Scarlet that she hadn't eaten in ages, and she could do with a drink.
"Well, lets head for the tavern then. Then we can ask the locals what else there is to to in Faydell."
They left the track behind them, and continued into the more open land of Faydell. It seemed a quiet farming village in most respects, but no doubt there was more to Faydell than met the eye. She spotted a sign hanging in the main street saying 'White Flag tavern'. From the state of the sign, she imagined the tavern had been there for a long time. She pointed it out to Trysten and they headed down the street, maneuvering around the odd chicken that appeared to believe the street belonged to them.

Matthew rode in fromt of his sister. She had told him how she had named her horse, but he couldn't find a good name for his. "How about Splotch?" The horse nickered and shook it's head. "I give up, There's no good names for you," He sighed and continued riding. Then he saw something, and the name popped into his head. Rocky! "How about Rocky," The horse made no noise, but seemed content with his new name.
Then, along the horizen He could see the beggining of a city coming over the hill. "Another 2 miles or so and we'll be there Liz!" Hewas so excited.

Elizabeth smiled at her brother's attempt to name his horse. She realized that Rocky was the perfect name. She smiled as the city appeared over the horizen. "You ready girl?" She wispered to Patch. The Horse raise both front feet in the air, and ran as quickly as possible. Another two miles, huh? Elizabeth thought as Matt tried to catch up.
They reached the city gates, and Liz got off her horse, Matt did the same. "Here," She handed Matt Patches rope. "Take the horses to the stables, if you can find them. I'll go to the Inn and get us a room." She watched her brother go, and she looked for the nearest Inn.
