Morgan jerked his head up as a long-haired girl approached him, a slightly concerned look in her eyes. As her startling blue eyes pierced his, his cheeks reddened slightly. He wasn't used to people behaving so with him, and he certainly hadn't been approched by a girl in a long time. Her dress was stunning, a saphie blue that clung to her frame and with skirts that billowed out. Suddenly aware that he was staring, he looked quickly away.
The half-elf tenderly lightly touched his tender side, and winced as he felt the extent of the bruising. "I'm fine," He managed to smile through gritted teeth. "ALthough... I don't suppose you know if there is a healer in these parts?"
He looked at the girl again. He was certain he reminded her of the elves, although exactly how he couldn't quite place - she looked to be human, at any rate. Running an idle hand through his hair, he added in a gentle tone, "I'm Morgan, My Lady. I should thank you for worrying about me."

She smiled. "Ok." she paused for a second. "I shall go find Trysten and he will assist me. I am quite new." she said. She walked quickly over to Trysten. "Will you help me take the boy over there to a healer? He has a horrible bruise on his side." she said with a light smile.

Rose turned to face Finn as he approached her, glad to see a friendly face. She glanced down at his clothes but didn't linger on what he was wearing- he looked uncomfortable enough.
"Hello," she replied warmly, "How are you?"
before Finn had a chance to reply, the crowds parted on her right-hand side and a girl approached her. She had long red hair and held out a gift of a dragon scale. It was decorated beautifully, and Rose accepted it graciously, slipping it into a concealed pocket in her dress.
"Thank-you." she replied, and feeling like she couldn't just turn away from the girl, continued and asked; "What's your name?"

The Earl span the elf around to the music, admiring her and nosing at the other parteners at the same time. She was light, easy to lead and the dance flowed beautifully. He span and twirled her around, grinning whenever they passed the Sovereign who was dancing with lady Alianna not far away. As the dance ended, had took Scarlet's hand and kissed it gently.
"A pleasure..." he murmured, then strode off into the crowds to find another partner for the next dance. He was soon distracted however, by the food tables- spread out on which were a multitude of delicious foods which he just could not resist. He took a seat and began piling sweetmeats and cheeses onto his plate, then sat back to enjoy the scene, crossing one leg over the other in a manly fashion.

Scarlet managed a small smile as the Earl kissed her hand and left her standing on the dance floor. The whole room was spinning, and she stood still for a few seconds until the dizzy feeling had left her.
She walked back into the crowd, and spotted Finn talking with the princess. Good she thought, he did come after all. She made a mental note to speak with him when he was free. She had to walk straight passed Drakan and purposfully looked away so she wouldn't catch his eye. Consciously deciding to think no more off it, she made her way up to the chairs to sit out the next dance.
She dropped down heavily, allowing herself to sink back into the crimson plush chair with a sigh. She tilted her head to face the man sitting beside her, and watched as the woman who had been standing infront of him turned to leave. She turned back to the crowds, watching the different people chatting and dancing when suddenly something made her turn back to the man. She looked at him more carefully trying to pick out what had been strange enough to catch her attention.
"Are you alright?" she asked, trying to sound more concerned than curious.

Finn opened his mouth to reply, when Rose was approached by a girl, who addressed her as...princess. Finn froze, his eyes wide.
The princess... he thought, staring at her turned back. Of course, Princess Roseanne's ball, how could I not have realized!? he stood rooted to the spot, mentally kicking himself for being such an idiot.
I am standing beside the Princess of Erivale. I addressed her as Rose- and I was going to ask her to dance! with each thought, he cringed more and decided to cut his losses and just leave. His cheeks flushed a bright pink, as he hurriedly made his way away from her in what he hoped was the direction of the door. It wasn't.
Great, now I'm cut off. If I want to get to the door, I'll have to walk past her again. he thought, panicking. Finn stood in the corner, trying very hard to blend in, and wishing he could just melt into the wall.

Jesai enjoyed dancing with Matthew. She felt happy, truly happy. Each time she passed Matthew during their dance, he smiled which caused her to grin back.
As the dance ended, Jessai thanked Matt and wandered off, towards a corner. She couldnt help but smile, her first ball had ben a fantastic experience so far. Sinking happily onto a comfy chair, she noticed Finn standing not too far away. Putting her hand in the air she waved her fingers at him.
"Hi Finn" She called. Turning to face him, still sitting, she looked at him and noted how handsome he looked. Very dashing she giggled inside. Most girls may have thought Finn looked scruffy, but Jessai, thought he looked lovely.
"Enjoying youself?" She heaved herself from her post and went to stand beside her friend. He was at least a foot taller than her, and much more muscular. Jessai looked quite tiny beside him. "I love dancing" she smiled up at him.

"Thankyou!" Morgan said warmly to the blue-eyed girl, trying to relax a bit so he didn't look quite so much like he was in pain. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply in, a technique the elves often used to calm themselves in a situation, and one that he had worked hard to try and perfect while learning to control his alter ego. Exhaling in one long, languid breath, he looked sideways and then tried not to jump as he found himself face to face with a second girl.
"Are you alright?" She asked him curiously ((OOC: I sort of assumed Scarlet was talking to Morgan, hopefully that was right? I'll edit this if I got that wrong!)).
He stared a little vacantly, and then it suddenly clicked that she would be expecting a reply. "Oh - yes!" He smiled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so surprised. I'm just a little dazed, that's all. But thankyou for asking. Oh - I'm Morgan by the way." He added, extending a slightly dirty hand while gingerly cluthing his side with the other. "Pleased to meet you!"

Carmen replied to the princess' question. "Carmen Jewel, dragonrider in Erivale's army." She then pointed at the dragon scale. "It's my dragon's scale. Her name is Nexa." She bowed and wished the princess a goodnight.
Carmen saw Draken hovering somewhere on the other side of the dance floor. She would pass it when the next dance was finished. She also saw the Earl. She was happy to see him again and decided to go see him. She walked to the food table nearest him and began to silently pour wine for herself. She took a sip and then asked the Earl, "Would you like a drink, my Lord?" She smiled when saying it, her green eyes sparkling.

Scarlet clearly had no intentions of speaking to Drakan either, and as she waltzed past him, Drakan gave her a scowl.
He turned his attentions back to Carmen who was still talking to Princess Roseanne. The princess seemed happy with her present and Drakan wondered what it was. As he finished the last of his wine, he noticed Carmen say goodbye to the princess and head off in the opposite direction. He wondered where she was going, and why she hadnt come back to talk to him.
Carmen seemed to want to speak with the Earl, and Drakan narrowed his eyes, sinking back into a chair. He didnt like Carmen speaking with other men but he sat back, content with watching for now.

Finn leant against the wall, watching the princess talking with Carmen. She didn't seem to have noticed he'd even gone.
Perhaps if I leave now...he thought, planning a elaborate route through the crowd, around the food tables then weaving in between the musicians. A voice pulled him from his thoughts. "Hmm?" he looked around to see Jessai, a girl he had met twice since arriving in Arinesse. He missed what she had just said, but was saved from further embarrassment when she continued.
"Enjoying myself?" he replied distractedly, glancing back over to the princess, "Not really, well, its a bit... Not really my scene." he finished lamely. Distantly, he ran his fingers through his hair as Jessai remarked about dancing.
"I don't dance." he replied frankly. He'd never learned, and didn't plan on learning, infact thinking about it- he had had a lucky escape from the princess. He hadn't really thought ahead about that...
"Jessai...I've got to go..." he said quickly, walking away from the wall as he spoke. He had to get out of the ballroom. Finn was hardly aware how rude he had appeared to Jessai, but he wasn't really himself tonight. He made his way across the floor, ducking under arms and squeezing past groups of people then sighing with relief, the door was in sight.

"A rider!" Rose repeated, she knew how hard it was to become a rider as her uncle and lady Alianna were strict and accepted only the best. She sighed, being a dragon rider sounded fun- but she wanted to be a mage. She doubted she'd ever have the chance though, it wasn't the sort of thing princess's were allowed to do. After she replied "Good night" to Carmen, she turned back to Finn and was a little surprised to find him gone.
"Finn?" she asked, looking around for him but to no avail. The Sovereign danced close by and she gave him a wavering smile, wanting to reassure him that she was having a good time. Suddenly she spotted a crop of light brown hair moving through the crowd, "Finn!" she called making her way towards him, which was easier said that done considering once people realised they were in her way- they had an annoying tendancy to curtsey or bow mumbling apologies and blocking her way even more. She finally reached him at the door, but waited until they were in the corridor until she spoke.
"Why did you suddenly leave?" she asked, rolling one of the beads from her necklace between her thumb and index finger and trying not to sound like she was demanding an answer. On seeing the two guards listening with interest, and knowing what gossips they were- she motioned for them to move inside the ballroom.
"Finn...?" she added, once they were alone.

"I dont dance" Finn had replied, hurting Jessai's feelings rather with his bluntness. Jessai silenced herself about dancing and felt slightly at a loss for conversation. She turned to face him again and opened her mouth to speak, but was met with a rather crude goodbye.
Jessai stood with her mouth open, watchign as Finn walked away from her. "Did i say something wrong?" She wondered aloud. Her smile had faded. Why doesnt Finn like me?she asked herself sadly.
She turned to the seat she had previously been in, but found it now occupied by another of the princesses guests. Not wanting to head into the crowd, she stayed standing in Finns spot. As she looked across the hall she spotted the Princess entering the ballroom. With her was Finn.
Jessai felt ignored and unwanted. She hadnt expected Finn to talk to her all night, but she had also not expected him to leave so abruptly.
Her legs felt tired after dancing, and she wanted to sit down. The chairs all seemed to be taken, and so Jessai sat down on the floor, hugging her knees. She no longer cared about making a good impression. she was tired and felt alone. I have no friends...

Post by Vincent Valcari on Oct 11, 2006 23:37:48 GMT
Vincent had read the sign in town..the ball could get him closer to this city. Maybe even find out why he was still a wanted man from a job he took from a enemy country to Erivale. "Maybe killing five officers had something to do with it..." ,Vincent thought in a smart-alic way. He decided to go to this ball, and try to gain some trust from its attendants. He went back to the inn he was staying at, and changed out of his ordinary elven styled clothes, and put on a basic grayish blue blazer, as for black dress pants. He looked in the mirror once and saw a flash of Akita in her ball outfit when they were younger and before she died. Vincent shook his head, and made sure he wasn't seeing things.. but sadly he was.
He left his room, locking the door to keep all his items and weapons safe. As he walked down the street in a dark gray cloak over his outfit he thought about how strange it was not having the sword Akita with him at all times like usual. He felt like a part of him was missing... As he reached the palace two ladies giggled bit as they saw him taking off his hooded cloak, and revealed his handsome, serious face. He only glared over at them and then winked in a sly way. They blushed a bit, and went back into the ballroom. Vincent remembered it was some Royal's birthday, and he did have an old elven made bracelet he had growing up in the priestess's estate. It said in the elven characters, Ever Pure. The priestess made this for her 'Son' this for she thought he was pure to be a human to be raised in a elven society.
He saw who he thought was the Sovereign. Vincent thought about how much he has grown, for Vincent was only about sixty when this mortal was born. He was looking around, and was surprised at the scenery. He had never been in a social event before. He was looking for a place where he could just be away from the overwhelming group. He spotted a column he could lean on. He slowly walked toward the column, his long dress jacket waved with each step, he met eyes with a attractive young woman on the floor. She seemed upset, Vincent would've talked to her, but he wasn't very good at cheering others up that much. Maybe he could try if she showed interest in him, he closed his eyes and stood, arms crossed in the shade from the column.

Post by Trysten Aradar on Oct 12, 2006 16:59:10 GMT
Trysten watched the other people around him and smiled slightly as he watched the various couples dancing about the room. Sapphire had left him a few seconds before and approached a boy who was slumped in a chair in the corner. Trysten frowned as he wondered why the boy had a look of such discomfort on his face. He looked to be in pain, but from what Trysten could see any injury that he had wasn't noticeable. He was about to walk over, when Sapphire turned and approached him again. She asked him if he would help take the boy to see a healer. Trysten bowed his head slightly in agreement.
"Of course," he replied, looking over to where the boy was sat, as they started to walk back over to him. "I'm sure I'll get the chance with you sometime in the future," he said with a smile.
Trysten stopped in front of the boy, who at closer observation appeared to be older than Trysten.
"I'm Trysten," he said, bowing his head slightly, as he thought that offering his hand might have caused the man some discomfort. "Would you like some assistance to find a healer?" he asked.
