Drakan stared hard into the eyes of the tiny dragon. He could see they werent going to get along. As Scarlet took his hand, he winced. "It really hurts..." He said, trying his hardest to gain Scarlets pity. "Maybe you should kiss it better..." He leant closer to her, so close that he could hear her breathe. Pulling his hand from hers, he brushed her hair lightly from her face. He closed his eyes, and pulled her closer to him...

Elizabeth walked into the Inn. She saw the Inn Keeper, and said. "Can I have a room for two please?" She put the money on the desk, and He gave her the keys.
Elizabeth carried their bags all the way too the top floor. What does Matt have in here? She wondered. She opened the door to her room and plunked the bags on the bed. She was exhausted, so she took a little nap on the bed.
Liz awoke, and realized that Matt didn't know where their room was. She ran downstairs, stopping at one room, because she could feel magic there. When she tried, she realized that there was a dragon in there. I guess dragons are allowed to stay here, she thought. Then she continued down the stairs, and headed for the stables.

Carmen came, and handed over her money too the Inn keeper. He smirked and said, "It's not enough," Carmen was shocked. "Not enough?!" She scrounged in her pocket, and pulled out those four gold coins she was saving. "Is this enough?" He handed her the keys and said, "That will do, here." He gave her back to coins she payed earlier. "You can't be moneyless in Arinesse." She smiled her thanks, and walked to her room.
Carmen realized it was a fairly nice room. The bed was pretty old and the floor was quite creeky, but it would be her home in the city. She lay down on the bed and immeadidiatly wen too sleep.

Scarlet knew Drakan well enough not to be shocked by his forwardness, still she hadn't known Drakan for that long. She let her lips brush his slightly, but then pulled back with a smile after a few moments.
"I think you'll live..." she said softly, glancing at his hand, "Anyway," she continued, "It's getting late...so...I'll see you soon. Maybe we can go to Swyncrest? You did promise you'd go there with me..."
She waited for him to answer, at the back of her mind vaguely aware of Meral's curiosity of Drakan.
* * *
After Drakan had left, Scarlet climbed into bed properly. Meral perched on the headboard, seemingly wide awake. It had been a long day, and soon, Scarlet was fast asleep.

Drakan wasnt sure if he was more surprised by the kiss or the sudden command to leave. Although he left with a mere nod at Scarlets suggestion, he felt happy. Maybe Scarlet really does like me! he thought eagerly. He skipped more than walked down the stairs of the inn and the old woman [who already had developed a strong dislike for Drakan] stepped out of her room once again. "I've been waiting for you!" she cackled. Drakan gave her a sidewards glance and continued down the stairs. Gwilanna, the old lady, was having none of this however. Grabbing an old broomstick from her room she hurried down the stairs, screaming "I wont have you disturbing MY peace!" Drakan received several batterings from the broom before he made it to the safety of the street. He would have bruises the next morning.

Carmen walked out of her room, and started to walk downstairs. She was going to do a lot of stuff today. She was going to explore the city a little more, and after that, she was planning to go to the recrutment office and apply for the Dragon Riders division. She walked into the lobby, and waved to the Inn Kepper, who smiled back. "I'll be back tonight," She didn't know why she said this, but she knew it was good to make new friends. She walked out the door, and into the street, humming her mothers old lullaby.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Carmen walked back into the Inn after a tough day. She was carrying her new dragonet under a sheet, and sneaking past the Inn Keeper. She got too her room, and put the Purple thing on the bed. She watched the dragon's magnificent scales, and wings. "Well, what am I going to name you?" She wondered. She looked out the window, and then remembered that she was going to meet Draken at the bar. I hope I'm not late! She thought. Then a strange thought came into her head. What Draken? She looked down at the purple dragon sitting on her bed. "Did you ask me that?" she asked aloud. The dragon nodded. Then she decided to ask it questions. "Well, don't mind about Draken. I have some questions for you," The dragon nodded, happy for the attention. "Are you a boy or a girl?" Girl, Carmen heard in her head. "Okay, then." She tried to think of a name. Nexa, the name was there. Nexa. She smiled at the dragonet and picked her up. "Well Nexa. I'm going to meet my friend Draken, so you can come along or stay here. Your choice." Nexa jumped from Carmen's arms to the floor. Come! She said. Carmen smiled at her confidence. She put her cloak on, and put her dagger in her belt. Then off we go, Nexa. Then she walked down the stairsd, Nexa following quietly.

Nelra cautiously opened the door to the inn and peered inside, checking for the innkeeper. She didn't see the innkeeper anywhere so she walked inside. She had a bundle in her arms, covered in her cloak. "No squirming, just incase." she hissed to the bundle. She made it up to her room unnoticed and set the bundle down on the bed. A turquoise dragonet crawled out from under the cloak.
"Now, we need to give you a name. But first, are you a boy or a girl?" she said, sitting down beside the dragon. Girl, came a thought in her head, she could only assume it was her dragon. "Alright then, how about...Aqua?" she asked. The dragon shook her head. She ran through dozens of other names, all of which the dragon rejected. "Then what am I supposed to call you?!" she cried, exaspperated.
Storm, call me Storm. the dragon said in her mind. Are you sure? Nelra replied the same way. The dragon nodded. "Alright then, Storm it is." Nelra declared.
------------------------------------------
Nelra and Storm left the inn sometime later, Storm drapped around her neck. The innkeeper watched the two leave, clearly not pleased at a dragon having been in the inn.

Moderating issues: Carmen
I have some issues about your dragon, you have obviously not read my rules regarding dragon ownership, or if you have, not carefully enough.
1. Your dragon grows in size due to your training sessions. When you posted this you had not been accepted as a trainee, therefore Nexa would not have grown. 2. The same applies with the mental link, as a recruit you have little if any mental connection. This is something for ALL dragonriders to bear in mind. 3. 'Nexa gave her a look of dissaproval", Dragons cannot contort their faces in that kind of way! Perhaps you could have said 'Carmen could hear the disapproval in her voice' instead. 4. Bear in mind Nexa is equally as intelligent as you, and her wisdom ageless and give her a personality accordingly. A dragon is not a pet.
I know that this seems picky, and I do apologise for posting this instead of PMing you (but it's also for the benefit of other dragon-riders). As we are having only a limited number of dragon-rides in this board, I want to make sure that everyone is RPing with their dragons properly. That way you set a good example for any future dragon-riders.
Please make note of these points, (also now you have made trainee, check the dragon-rider thread to see what stage you and Nexa should be at) if this occurs again, you will be given a formal warning.

OOC: I control both Elizabeth and Matthew, so I'm going to God-mod Matthew to make it easier for me. I already have permission from The Sovreign.
Matthew walked into the room he shared with his sister. He slowly st down on the bed, and started to wonder if he really wanted to be a Dragon Rider. Maybe I'll become an Elite Swordsman first, because I hate to leave things undone. He slowly sat, thinking about it, when he thought something else. But a Dragon Rider...This war seemed to wage through his head forever. He even began getting a head ache. Matthew slowly got up and walked to the closed window. He opened it, letting the sunlight in. Then in marched an angry looking Elizabeth.
"Where have you been?!" She yelled at him. He was taken aback by this coment. "What do you mean?" He said, bewildered. "I just, well, left the horses at the stables and went to the Recruitmen-"
"You went to the recruitment office without me!!!" Elizabeth started to cry. She'd walked around the whole city, looking for him and then he asked about training without her. She was more than angry now; she was enraged.
"I-I d-didn't know you wanted to go with me," Matthew said carefully.
"YOU DON'T REMEBER THE PROMISE WE MADE!" She said now, looking around for things to throw at him. "F-father" she started sobbing. "Father asked us to do one thing for him, and you screw it up!" She was lying on the floor now, her back against the wall for support. "Oh Mattie," Liz was sobbing into her arms. "I was s-so w-worried." She looked up at him. Her normally beautiful face was then crowded with tears and looked terrifyingly gloomy. "I-I've n-never felt s-so lost in my life." She looked at the floor. "Do you remeber them Mattie?" she whispered. "Our parents,"
Matt didn't feel like answering, the sun had come out from the clouds and was showing it's beautiful face. Matthew stared out the window, slowly wondering what did happen to their parents. Then he heard a shout from behind him. "Matt! Answer ME!" He turned around and saw Liz on her feet again, walking towards him. "I don't know," He said quietly. "What!"Liz screamed. "I DON'T KNOW!" He was losing his patience. His face was red and hot and Liz's eyes were still full of tears.
The sun disappeasred from the sky and Liz sat on the bed, crying harder. "How could you?" Matt knew what she was talking about. "How could you join the army without me?"
Matt stared down at his twin. "I didn't think it meant this much to you," Then prepared himself for the aftermath.
"So you didn't think it meant that much to father!? Or that Much to Me?! Do you keep no track of how many promises you've made? And how Many you broken?" She took out her bag and began throwing her clothing in it.
Matt stared deperatly. "What are you doing?"
Liz looked up at him, anger flaming in her eyes. "I don't want to live with some who can't keep promises, whether you're family or not!" She pulled her bag over her shoulder and disappeared through the door. People were looking out of the room door, to seee what the comotion was.
As she walked down the hallway she heard Matthew yelling behind her. "FINE THEN! JUST LEAVE!I DON'T WANT YOU IN THIS PLACE EITHER!" Her tears kept flowing as she walked out the door and then as she ran down the street.
In the Inn room above, Matthew had packed his things and left the room. He went to the Inn Keeper, who asked. "What was all the fighting about?" He looked at him, his anger not leaving. "Family Business." He said through gritted teeth. "Well, Any ways," The Inn Keeper replied. "Need a new room?"
Matthew walked to a room, higher than the one he had before. It had a single bed and a bigger window. Good, he thought. Then he threw his bag on the bed and opened the window. The sun was shining again and somewhere on the street below, he would have sworn he saw a small figure running down an alleyway.

Scarlet was glad to be back at the inn. As she walked in through the doors heads turned to look at her. If she'd seen a mirror then she would have understood why. She looked a state. She wasn't even sure if Matt was still there with her, but mumbled her thanks anyway. She already looked like a lunatic so talking to thin air wouldn't be so out of character. She pulled herself up the stairs using the banister and fumbled with her key. With shaking hands she opened the door to her room. As it closed behind her she leant back against it, allowing herself to sink to the floor. She stayed on the floor for a long time, hugging her knees until a knock at her window caused her to lift her head and pay attention. A scratching sound came from the window-ledge, with the accompanying voice:
Let me in Scarlet. She scrambled to her feet and threw open the double windows so that Meral, who was hovering outside could squeeze in. It was like trying to fit a flying horse through the window, but he managed it. Scarlet gave him a watery smile and flung her arms around his scaly neck, crying into his hard glittering scales. Being with Meral helped her to begin to think clearer. You ought to clean yourself up he suggested. Scarlet gingerly picked herself up from the bed and padded barefoot into the adjoining bath room where she examined the damage in the mirror. She undid the bandage Matt had wrapped around her head and cleaned up the wound, wincing every now and again as she fumbled with the cloth. she re-bandaged her head and after removing her dress, which had been reduced to rags, washed herself all over. She had a few bruises and scratches up her legs and arms, and a huge bruise on her hip, but apart from that she was alright. She plaited her damp hair and wound it into a bun, then slipped into a clean cotton nightdress and climbed into bed. Meral lay down beside her on the floor, his head snaked up and resting on the bed beside her.
Get some rest little one he said, brushing her brow tenderly with his snout. Scarlet was already fast asleep.

Post by Finn Denys on Sept 25, 2006 18:34:11 GMT
Finn finally arrived at the inn. The last hour he had spent wondering around town looking for a place to stay had exhausted him. More mentally than physically- he couldn't quite comprehend how Arinesse could be so big, and just how different everything was to rural life. He booked the cheapest room they had, and as he handed over the coins, he realized he would have to get a job almost straight away if he hoped to sleep with a roof over his head and be able to feed himself for the rest of the week.
As he received his key, he heard the front doors open, and a hush fall over the entire lobby. An elf made her way into the room, she seemed badly hurt and didn't really seem aware of what was going on. She climbed up the stairs, and Finn found himself marveling at the strength she had considering the state she was in. The chivalrous part of him felt like he should help her, but the rational half told him now was not the time. A stranger's help would probably be more of a hindrance to her. All the same, he watched to see what room she went into and decided to knock on her door tomorrow- just to check if she was alright.
He made his way up to his room, and dropped his bag on the ground beside the door. The room, although the smallest in the inn, was much bigger than the room he had back at the farm. He had shared it first with his brother- then when he married- his younger sister. He sighed and flopped back onto the bed, wondering what was happening back home and mulling over everything that had happened at his first day in the big city.

Scarlet woke up the next morning feeling fresh and rested. She slid out from under the sheets and drew the curtains, allowing warm rays of sunshine to play across the room. Meral awoke with a small growl and opened one large emerald eye. Scarlet stretched out her arms, and almost at once withdrew with a yelp of pain as her sore muscles protested.
And how are we this morning? Meral inquired, still with only one eye opened. "Not too bad." Scarlet replied, removing her nightdress and inspecting the bruise on her hip. She walked into the bathroom and removed the bandage from her head, now pretty sure she'd be left with a nasty scar. As she walked back into the main bedroom, she unwound her hair from the makeshift bun and ran her fingers through it. Sleeping with her hair plaited had given her hair a soft wavy texture, which went almost unnoticed. She opened her wardrobe and picked out a light brown and cream dress, with long sleeves to cover the cuts along her arms. She cahnged, then looked in the mirror; with her hair covering the welt on her head, only the scratches on her hands showed.
Will I do? she asked Meral, playfully twirling on the spot. He curled his lip into a smile, revealing a row of pointy teeth. You'll do just fine. So, what're we up to today then? I think we can cross training off of the agenda.
"Training's the last thing I want to be doing!" she replied, speaking both aloud and mentally. "I think I'll take it easy for today, I need to find Matt and thank him for last night." She sat down at her dresser and ran a comb through her hair, "I should probably find Drakan too..." she added, as an afterthought.
Meral decided to leave that subject untouched, for the time being. What about the palace ball? he asked, changing the subject What about it? Are you going to go? I think so, I don't really have anything decent to wear though. Perhaps I could buy something in the city today?
Once ready, she picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder; she immediately regretted it. "Ouch" She moaned and decided to leave the bag, she only needed her money anyway. Scarlet looked at her sword and bow and arrow which were both resting against her bed. She decided against them as well, after all, she'd have Meral with her.
You better leave out of the window, she told him, I'll meet you outside.

Finn groaned and rolled to the edge of his bed. He'd slept in, usually an early riser- he wasn't used to late mornings. Rubbing his eyes, he made his way across the room where he opened the curtains and then the windows, leaving them wide open, allowing the curtains to blow inwards as the cool morning breeze filled the room.
Fully awake now he looked down at himself; he had fallen asleep fully clothed, and hadn't even climbed into bed properly. He quickly washed, changed and ran his fingers through his hair a few times, before grabbing his bag, pocketing his key and leaving the room. On his way down, he remembered the blonde elf-woman he'd seen before. He stood outside her door, hand poised and ready to knock.

Scarlet opened the door, almost walking into Finn who was standing right outside.
"Oh! Sorry!" she said out of habit, then realised that he had been the one standing outside her door. She closed the door behind her and turned to face him properly.
"Can I help you?"
Hang on a minute, Meral she told him.
