Drakan paced in the backlane beside the inn. Last time he had been here he caused no end of trouble and had since tried to steer clear. He knew that calling to Scarlet would just end in peril, but he didnt know how else to get to her. The inn keeper disliked him, as did one of the permanent residents and so he wasnt allowed inside.
He needed to get a message to her...Thats it! he would write her a message and throw it into her window. Looking up he was relieved to see that the window was open. Scrabbling in his pocket he found writing materials, and quickly scribbled:
"Scarlet, meet me at the entrance to the palace woodland tonight at 11"
He didnt sign it for fear of Scarlet not meeting him, he just hoped she wouldnt guess. Now getting it up there... He gathered that the window was about twice as high as he was and rolling the parchment into a small tube he threw it upwards carefully. The first time it hit the window pane and dropped down, second time it fell just inside. Looking pleased with himself, Drakan brushed down his shirt and headed back to the stables.

Scarlet sat cross legged on her bed, concentrating hard on writing. After a while, she sat up straight arching her back, and reread the rows of her slanted elvish writing to check it made sense. She had neglected the journal since arriving in Arinesse, but satisfied she was now up to date, flipped the book closed and lazily threw it in the direction of the dresser. Not surprisingly it landed a few feet short.
"Ugh" She flopped forwards onto the bed lathargically. A muffled thump from the window caused Scarlet to start and quickly slide off of the bed. Before she could investigate further, the curtains billowed and a rolled up piece of parchment skittered across the floor, rolling to a halt at her feet. She read it quickly as she made her way over to the windows and leaned out to catch a glimpse of the mysterious messenger, but it was too dark to see. with a puzzled expression, she closed the windows as she moved back into the room to fetch her cloak and shoes. Casting a glance back into the room, she pocketed the message and slipped out of the room.

Drakan was in a good mood. Even his fear of the old woman at the inn couldnt send away his smile. He walked into the backlane, behind the inn and stood beneath Scarlets window. "Scarlet?" He called, "Meral?" He was hoping that Scarlet would want to practice sparring or do some sort of training with him. He was also trying to become more friendly with her dragon. He leant against the cobbled wall, and started to whistle.
