Trysten was amused by Laeilyn's apparent lack of care as she devoured the bread she had just bought. But watching her eat made him even hungrier. He decided to follow her lead, and walked over to a stall to buy himself some bread. He wondered where they would end up going next. It was still quite early in the day, but he could tell that it was going to be hot.
Looking over at Laielyn who had already finished her bread, he smiled. "Hungry?" he asked, with a smile on his face. He admired her ability to act herself regardless of who was around.

Popping the last morsel of bread into her mouth and devouring it with some satisfaction, Laielyn blushed as she heard Trysten's comment. "Mm... Sorry!" She said hastily, brushing a few wayward crumbs from her lap. "I haven't eaten in a while... I really needed that! But..." She added, watching him buy himself some bread, "It would seem that you're also rather hungry?"
She looked curiously at him, suddenly realising that she hadn't completed her aim in meeting him at all; she had been going to find out who exactly he was... but she didn't know anything at all! She supposed she had gotten side tracked, they had talked for a good while, but she still didn't know the first thing about him. She resolved to learn as much as she could, and waited to see what he would say in response to her saying about the bread.

Trysten smiled, as he began to eat his bread. He was too self-conscious to devour it like Laielyn had, but his hunger was a hard thing to battle. He swallowed his mouthful before looking up at Laielyn again.
"Well, I haven't really eaten anything since before I arrived in Arinesse yesterday..." he started, pausing to take another mouthful of bread. He was glad of the food, it had been a while since he had had anything fresh.
He looked around. Arinesse was a lot larger than he had imagined, but from what he had seen so far, he liked it. He was still slightly surprised at the number of people he had met; it was slightly out of character for him.

"Same," She grinned. "To be honest, I don't know how you're holding back as you eat! So," She continued, in line with her resolution to find out more about the mysterious Trysten, "How are you finding Arinesse so far? I think I quite like it." She looked up at the clear sky, and sighed heavily. "Although I do miss the open fields a little. I'll probably go out riding later... Can you ride?"
The day was quickly growing warmer, and laielyn shrugged off her coat, rolling it tightly up into a ball and shoving it into her pack. She was quickly sinking into a good mood; she had met plenty of people, all of whom had been interesting, and she felt that she had something to do at last. And she had finally taken the first steps towards becoming a mage. She smiled a little dreamily, winding her hair around her finger as she waited for Trysten's reply. and a small, contented smile crept over her face. She couldn't have imagined her trip to Arinesses going better.

Trysten watched as Laielyn packed her coat away. He was glad he was wearing light clothes, as it was beginning to get quite warm.
"I think I like Arinesse too," he said, finishing the last of the bread. "It's better than I had expected, I think." He thought to himself as Laielyn asked if he could ride.
"Well I can ride..." he began. "I guess I just choose not to. I've never owned a horse of my own, and I'm quite content walking." He paused, wondering if she thought he was odd for not wanting a horse. Everyone else he knew seemed to prefer travelling on horseback to walking.
"Do you have your own horse?" he asked her.

"Yes, I have a mare called Eryn in the stables here," She smiled warmly. "Well, if you ever change your mind then it'd be fun to go for a ride and explore some of the area around the city! I do like walking as well though, and it seems that you have more adventures while walking... but travelling by horseback is more practical than anyting else. It's faster." She mused aloud.
She considered what he'd said. "What did you expect the city to be like?" She asked. "I think I expected it to be a lot less friendly, it seems that everyone here is out to get along with everyone else! Don't get me wrong," She hastily added, "I like it. But it would be nice to have just a little bit of conflict, just to keep things exciting... But I don't want to tempt fate."
She threw her head back, looking up at the sky. Somewhere along the lines she had got completely lost in what she was saying, and she was unsure if anything she'd just said even made sense. "I talk too much." She sighed, thinking aloud.

Trysten smiled at Laielyn. He liked having conversations with talkative people. He always preferred to be listening to others than talking about himself.
"You don't talk too much," he said with a shy half smile, "And anyway, I don't mind." He paused to think about what she had said about conflict in the city. He hadn't really thought of it that way, but he guessed she was right. So far everyone- not including his slight encounter with Drakan- had been friendly towards everyone else.
"I think I expected it to be smaller, maybe. But you're right about the people here. For a large city everyone is very welcoming. Maybe all of the conflict happens in the towns and villages..." he mused to himself. Realising he was thinking out loud- something he did not like doing very often- he trailed off, hoping that Laielyn would say something else.

Laielyn smiled, glad to hear Trysten say something more about himself - even if it was just a little bit, it seemed promising to her when someone was relaxed enough to think aloud. Having thought that... She supposed this meant she must have been fairly relaxed as well.
"It is a big place." She agreed. "But I like it that way. It means there's more to explore... All the same, once I've seen all there is to see here I'm quite certain I'm going to travel on to somewhere else. I know the Army is something fo a tie, but it shouldn't stop me travelling once I've reached the highest rank I can - which I intend to do. Are you anything much of a traveller?"
The girl sometimes wondered if she was perhaps a little too nosey for her own good, but the very fact that she was sometimes too nosey caused her disregard these thoughts almost as soon as they popped into her head. And so she continued chattering away, pausing only to fill her water carrier from a well situated a little way away from the bread stall.
"I wonder what some of the towns are like." She murmured. "I don't care for villages, personally..." She frowned slightly, thinking of her family's upheaval and moving to the country. She wondered how her brother was doing... She really should write home soon.

Carmen walked into the square, Her hair done up in a braid. She walked over to a food stand, which was full of apples. No one was there, so she quickly grabbed one and hid it in her pocket. A second after that the stand owner came by. "Can I help you?" He asked in a gruff voice. "Oh, no. I'm fine," Carmen said, using her great lieing skills. She sat down at the fountain and began eating the apple, wondering about dragons.

Drakan hurried into the square. "Scarlet, Scarlet, Scarlet" he muttered under his breath. He wanted to find his friend and tell her all about his training session with the Sovereign. However he had no idea where she was. He finaly realised that she wasnt in the square but decided to have a rest before heading back. He sat down at the fountain, where he had so stupidly fallen into the cold water a few weeks ago. Out of the corer of his eye he spotted a girl that was apparently new to the city. As he watched she stole from a fruit stall. Looking around in disbelief, Drakan realised that no one else had noticed what this girl had done. Right he thought to himself. Inside Drakan could feel the anger boiling up. He didnt understand why anyone, no matter how poor, would steal. He knew that if this girl had simply asked for food, someone would have given it to her, free of charge.
Once Drakan's temper had been started up, there was no stopping it. He stormed over to the girl and looked into her eyes. Normally he would have tried to flirt with a girl such as this one, but today he barely noticed how she looked.
"How dare you?" he said coldly and fiercely. If Scarlet or anyone else he had met in Erivale could see him now, they would barely recognise him.
"How can you steal from someone like this in broad daylight!? Does it not occur to you that this man," Drakan indicated the stall owner, who had turned round to listen, "has to make a living!?"
Drakan was fuming as he waited for the thief to respond.

Carmen gasped at the mans anger. She had hardly noticed she done it, let alone wonder what the other man felt. She saw she had taken a bite out of the apple, and then guilt washed over her. She was only 16, but she stole without knowing it. She sighed, and stared at the man. No one had ever made her feel this guilty since she had gone to the jail...never mind. She stood up and walked back to the fruit stand. She pulled out three silver coins and called the owner of the store. "I stole an apple, and I 'm sorry." She handed him the coins, and looked down guiltily. "Well thank you for your honesty," He said. "Now no more stealing ya hear?" She felt the Angry man's eyes burning into her back. "Yes sir, " She walked back to the fountain. She sat down and sighed. She looked at the man and said, "I'm sorry. Old habits die hard." She looked down at the ground, not feelng very hungry anymore.

Drakan was even more shocked at the girls behaviour after he saw that she had money to spare. But he did feel much calmer after the girl had payed for her apple. He shook his head. "Maybe i shouldnt have been so harsh.." he mused"Sometimes i admit my temper gets the better of me." He looked at the thiefs face. "I'm Drakan" he said with just a hint of coldness. He mustered a smile and held out his hand. "Just dont steal and im sure we can both get along fine?". His anger had vanished as quickly as it had appeared and he grinned at the girl. His cheekier, flirtatious side coming through once more.

Nelra skipped into the square, her hair falling out of the bun she'd hastily put it into with each step she took. Now that she was actaully exploring the city, she had no idea why she'd put it off for so long. Her first stop, after she had taken a quick look around, was a few of the vendors, to buy some bread, cheese, and an apple for her meal. She paid each vendor with a grin, even though she knew that at this rate, her supply of money was going to run out quite quickly.
Her meal now purchased, she took her food and sat down on the edge of the fountain. As she ate her food she took a better look around the square. She studied the other people there briefly, they seemed like fairly nice people, but she didn't think she knew any of them. She was more interested in the streets going off of the square, and spent most of the time while she ate wondering where each of them went.

Carmen smiled at Draken. She liked this side of him, much better than his angry one. She grabbed his hand with her soft fingers. "I'm Carmen Jewel." She witherdrew and silently thought. Well, there goes the last of my money. I guess I'll sleep with Ginger in the stables. She sighed and looked back up at Draken. "So, why are you here? Here for the Army?" She wanted to know if he was going to be a Dragon Rider too.

"I am already in the army actually." he said with a slight air of arrogance "I have almost finished my training. Just one more session!" he almost had to stop himself from shouting with joy. He was immensely proud. "I am also the stable master. Do you have a horse?" he looked into the face of his new aquaintance. Carmen Jewel, what a fitting name he though. She looks like a jewel....He shook his head, and grinned at Carmen. So what are you up to he asked, choosing to forget her earlier thievery.
