This is the best tavern in town. It has a warm and lively atmosphere, and serves the best beer and ale in the whole of Erivale. It is a good place for both weary travelers and the locals. It offers the perfect opportunity to meet new people, or meet with existing friends. Brawls seldom break out here, but when they do, they are on a large scale!
Food is also served here.
Positions of bartender/barmaid are vacant. Please see the Employment Office thread.

Drakan was tired. He had been working hard all day and felt like relaxing. As yet he hadnt really visited any of the public houses in Erivale. Apart from a few fleeting visits. Tonight though, he had decided that he would go for a quiet drink rather than sit by himself in his hut. He found a small table in a dark corner and ordered himself a mug of ale. As he sipped it quietly, he took in each and ever person in the room. So many different races, and everyone friends. He wondered if Carmen would join him. He hoped so, he really enjoyed her company...

Carmen walked into the Swan and Staff Public House. Nexa followed in behind her, hiding under her cloak. She saw Draken in the corner, and walked over to him. "Fancy seeing you here," She smiled. Her hair was in two braids, and she was wearing a long cloak. Nexa jumped up on the seat beside her, and Carmen sat down next to Draken. "This is my new friend Nexa," Then in her mind said. And Nexa, this is Draken. Nexa snorted, and saw Draken's swollen hand. She giggled, some strange dragon giggle. Then Carmen noticed Draken's hand "Draken," Carmen said. "What happened to your hand?"

"Oh" He said embarrassed, "Scarets dragon, he doesnt exactly like me..." He looked down at Nexa, although he hadnt met many dragons, the ones he had met seemed annoying little creatures. "Hello Nexa" he said almost through gritted teeth. "You see this?" He placed his sore hand alarmingly and probably stupidly close to the dragons snout, "One of you did this to me."

When Draken said this to Nexa, Carmen saw a look of pride in her eyes. Nexa saw how close Draken was to her, so she licked his hand with her long slimy tongue. Carmen giggled. "She means it in a nice way," She could stop her giggles, but then finally they stopped. "So. How was Swyncrest?" She wanted to know, because she was planning a trip there soon. "I've been wanting to go." Then she heard, What Swyncrest? She looked at Nexa, It's a small town by the sea, I'll take you there someday. I promise. Then she looked back at Draken, awaiting his response.

Drakan pulled his hand back in disgust. But he didntexpect anything more from the horrible little dragons. "I didnt go to Swncrest in the end." he sighed and took a long swig of ale, "I couldnt find Scarlet. He looked up and into Carmens eyes. They sparkled in the light of the tavern and for a few moments he was lost in them. Suddenly a noise broke him from his stare and he looked down at his feet, wondering if Carmen had realised.

Carmen smiled, almost feeling glad he didn't go to Swyncrest. She looked at him, as he stared into her eyes. She giggled as he looked away. Nexa rolled her eyes, and Carmen felt some jelousy coming from her. Then she decided to change the subject. "How's your training going?" She didn't really want to know, but she didn't like awkward moments. "What's it like training with The Sovreign?" She heard Nexa snort and Carmen's attemt to sound interested.

"Its brillaint!" Drakan could barely hold back the excitement in his voice "I've completed my training!" He grinned and putting down his tankard, leant back into his chair. "How is your training going?" He returned the question, genuinly interested, although he had a gut feeling Carmen was just replacing silence.

"What?" Carmen asked, because she hadn't really been paying attention. "Oh, right. Training," She saved herself quickly, Nexa giggling. "The Earl thinks I'm a pretty good archer, and I start with Lady Alianna tomorrow. I can't wait." She truely was excited, just a little tired.
Carmen watched a waitress bring over some bread for them to eat. She reached into her pocket to pay her, but realized it was empty. She blushed and looked away from Draken, feeling guilty about not being able to pay. Nexa grabbed a peice of bread and began chewing it savagly. She spat it out right after and Carmen couldn't help but giggle.

Drakan paid the waitress without a second tought but he could see that Carmen felt guilty. He stood up to go and get new drinks, but as he took his first step, he slipped on a loose tile and fell headfirst into the waitress. She looked more shocked than anything and hurried back behind the bar. Drakan rubbed his head and sat up. He could see that most of the public house was laughing at him. He looked at the floor silently cursing the flagstone he had tripped on.

Carmen watched as Draken tripped. She giggled a little, but then realized that he might be hurt. Carmen quickly got out of her seat and walked to help Draken up. She grabbed his arm and lifted him. Nexa stared, wondering if they had any meat at this place. Carmen looked at Draken, and brushed his hair from his head, inspecting his head. "Are you ok?" She asked, looking into his eyes.

Drakan looked back at Carmen. One hand still lay on his arm and the other on his forehead. Her eyes twinkled as usual and Drakan began to feel embarrassed. Part of him wanted to kiss her, but a smaller part could sense that the middle of a public house was not the best place, especially as most of the visitor were already looking that way. He smiled, and felt his cheeks burn crimson. He tore himself from her grasp and muttered an apologetic goodbye. "I'll see you tomorrow" he vowed with a quick flash of a smile.

Carmen pulled back from him as he left. Then she ran after him, "Meet me in the City Square!" She called after him, forgetting that everyone was around. She turned back and saw Nexa. She was sniggering to herself. What are you laughing at? She asked, accusingly. Nexa walked out onto the street. We meet at Inn, then without another word, she flew towards the sky. Yes, Carmen replied. We need to rest for your training tomorrow.
Carmen watched her fly away, and longed to be riding her back. Soon, she heard in her head. Then she started walking back to the Inn. Did he want to kiss me? She wondered, knowing Nexa was listening. She started skipping and twirling as she walked down the street. She hadn't felt this happy since she met...never mind. She skipped all the way to the Inn, Nexa circling above.

Trysten wandered into the Inn, dripping wet. He made his way to the bar and ordered a tankard of ale. When he had been served he made his way over to a seat near to the fire in the corner. The rain had started to ease up as he had made his way back to Arinesse, but he was still drenched as he sat down. He was still slightly confused over what had happened on the beach and whether Nouhime knew the strange man who had been so hostile with them. He shook his head and took a sip of his ale.
Looking around the room he realised that there wasn't anyone he had met in sight. He was slightly surprised as he felt like he had met a lot of people since arriving in Erivale, but he was happy to sit on his own. He had always been solitary and having so many people around was slightly strange to him. Not that he minded.
He sighed and lent back in the chair, partially aware that the water from his clothes was soaking into it.

Dade made his way into the Public House and walked straight over to the bar to order a tankard of ale. He was surprisingly exhausted from his journey, and the chance to relax was one that didn't occur often. He took the tankard from the barman and paid him with the change that had been residing in his pocket.
Making his way over to an empty seat, he looked around. There weren't many people in the bar but he spotted a figure sitting by the fire. He looked to be a little younger than himself, and appeared to be soaking wet. Dade smiled slightly to himself, wondering what kind of place he had arrived in.
Sipping his ale, he lent back in his chair and sighed. It had been a while since he had stopped in a city, and he knew that it would be somewhere interesting to explore. As of yet he hadn't seen much since arriving, having only been in Arinesse a few hours, but he knew that there was plenty to do there. He took another sip of ale and watched the people placing orders at the bar.
