The large blocks of stables are open to anyone who needs a place for their horse to stay. The Stable Master gives the same kind treatment to any horse under his/her care. The red wood building is always open and smelling of fresh sweet hay.
The Stable Master is Drakan Thrice.

Drakan looked at the building in front of him. This would be his livlihood from now on. He was thrilled that his work would include the thing he loved most-horses. Climbing off his horse and tying him up outside, Drakan placed his hands on the stable door and pushed hard. It took some force but eventually the door opened and Drakan smelt the old-horsey smell he loved. Walking in Drakan could see that the place badly needed cleaning. There was straw all over the floor which needed to be swept and thick reams of dust lay all over the window sills. Drakan opened each window in the stables and let some light in. Now that he could see properly Drakan realised the potential the stables held. The building was huge with enough room for at least 30 horses. It was not as dirty as he had first thought either, it was just a case of dusting and sweeping the wisps of straw which had escaped the stalls. Drakan explored his new territory excitedly and was pleased to find a small office type rom at the back of the stables. I can use this to keep records of horses i keep in the stalls he thought to himself. Walking back through the main part of the stables, Drakan suddenly remembered he needed to name his new horse. He stood in the doorway watching as his new horse sniffed the ground inquisitively and whinnied when he saw Drakan. "what shall we call you?" Drakan asked his horse, smiling. He looked up and down his new horse but nothing came to mind. Sighing, Drakan took his horse's reigns and took him to a stall in the stables. Inside was nothing but a pile of straw. Yawning Drakan took of his horses reigns and turned to walk out of the stall. As he was doing so his foot kicked something hard, and on closer inspection, Drakan realised it was a bottle. "Arkis wine" read the label. Drakan hadnt seen a bottle like this one in years, this was an elven drink that his father often had before he went away to war. Maybe its a sign, he thought Maybe this horse should be called Arkis ...
"Arkis ." he said loudly. His horse stopped his exploration of the stall and looked up at Drakan. Drakan smiled "Arkis " he sounded again "that will be your name". Arkis nudged him gently with his head and Drakan took this as an approval. He smiled and sat down in the straw. Within no time he was sound alseep beside Arkis and dreaming happily.

Scarlet led Ember up the path towards the stables, admiring the brilliant view of the palace she had from where she was standing. She was reluctant to leave Ember behind and explore the city alone, but Ember was tired from the long journey and needed to rest. Scarlet had asked for directions to the stables in town, and despite following them word for word, she had still managed to get lost twice. She gave a sigh of relief as they came into view and as she half stood in the doorway, glancing around the stables, she wondered whose permission she needed to leave her horse here.
"Hello?" she called. Silence, except the soft echo of her own voice. Somewhere, a horse whinnied. Shrugging, she lead Ember further into the stables. She passed the larger stalls, obviously meant for royal use, to a second row of stables. There was only one horse in this row, who looked up as she walked past. Ember stopped outside the stable, eyeing the horse with interest.
Scarlet reached out to pat the him, when she noticed something on the ground. She smiled when she realised it was an elf, around her age, asleep in the straw.
"Sssh," she whispered, putting a finger over Embers muzzle, "We don't want to wake him now, do we?" She led Ember into the empty stable next door, then set about hunting for some hay and food, trying to make as little noise as possible.

A scraping noise awoke Drakan from his deep sleep. Rubbing his eyes, he stood up and looked out of the stable door. Not far away stood a young elf-of about his age. Drakan was stunned by her beauty and quickly went over to introduce himself. "Hello" he said bowing his head "I am Drakan Thrice and i am the stable master here" he grinned cheekily and offered his hand to the young elf. Suddenly a thought occurred to him- he must have looked a state. Running his spare hand through his hair, he was embarrassed to pull out several pieces of straw, he could also feel that his hair was sticking up on end. Fantastic first impression he thought to himself and looked down to the floor. It was only then that he realised his clothes were almost as messy as his hair. He kicked the ground with his boots and looked back at the elf, red faced and grinning more nervously now...

Scarlet surpressed a smile as the elf stood up, looking somewhat like a scarecrow.
"Scarlet," she replied, taking his hand. "Sorry to wake you up, but I couldn't lift this hay bale off of the ground" she glared at the large bale she had been dragging past the stables. Ember kicked the door impatiently, eyeing the food. Scarlet threw her an annoyed glance,
"That's Ember," she told Drakan, then looked down at the bale, "Do you think you could help me with this hay?" she asked, grinning.

"Sure" Drakan replied as normally as he could, although it came out more like a squawk. Why do girls always have such a bad effect on me he asked himself impatiently. Grinning once more he lifted the bale of hay and took it into the stall where Scarlets horse Ember stood. "That should do it" he said pleased with himself. He thought Scarlet looked impressed and sitting down on the bale asked Scarlet if she was new here. He was just explaining how he had only arrived the day before and telling her that he had only fallen asleep in the stall because he was so worn out from travelling when Ember decided she was too hungry to wait any longer. With a toss of her head, she pushed the bale, sending Drakan flying. "I dont make a habit of laying in stables" he said with a bemused look on his face "Honest..."

Scarlet watched Drakan lift the bale, a huge grin spread across his face as he strode in large manly steps towards the stable. When Ember knocked him onto the ground Scarlet stood over Drakan, laughing and helped pull him up onto his feet. She began spreading the hay around the floor of the stables, chatting at the same time.
"I only arrived here today, and this was the first place I've been really. I'd like to see the palace though, it looks beautiful. Don't you think?"
Ember, now bored with the hay, had craned her neck as far out of the stables as possible in order to sniff Arkis.
"Your horse is beautiful," she commented, watching Arkis eyeing Ember warily. "How long have you had him for?"

"Only since i came here yesterday. I had another...before i left my village...but i had an unexpected departure.." Drakan trailed off. Changing the subject he asked Scarlet if she intended to sat in Erivale for long. He hopes she would. He liked the look of this pretty elf and hoped he could become firm friends with her. While chatting to Scarlet, Drakan set about filling all the empty stalls with straw for any horses that may arrive at the stables.

Scarlet raised an eyebrow at the change of conversation, but remained silent, making a mental note to ask Drakan about it later. She could sense it was an area he was uncomfortable talking about.
"Well, I do hope to stay in Erivale for quite a while, I think it'll become my permanent home, it's not like I have anything to go back to the elf realm for..." she trailed off, not ready to give Drakan all the details about her past. After all, they had only just met.
Now it was her turn to change the conversation: "I was thinking about maybe joining the army, although I'm not really trained in anything. My style is, well, a little wild to say the least." she laughed, "Actually that's an understatement, I once cut of a large amount of my hair off swinging a sword around my head..." She ran her fingers through her hair, almost as if to reassure herself it was still there, then, content that Embers stable was finished, she leaned over the stall door watching Drakan spread hay in the opposite stable.
"How long do you have to work here for?" she asked, curious.

Drakan stood up, brushed the wisps of hay off his front and then turned round to Scarlet. "I'm pretty much done now" he said wiping his hands on his trousers. "Want to go for a walk?" He grinned at her and walked out fo the stall. "I havent really done much exploring yet, we could take the horses if you like? We could head to the beach!" Drakan realised he had got a little over excited about the beach and looked down to te ground in his usual way. "Sorry he said quietly, but i havent been to the sea since i was tiny..." Trying his hardest to act casual, he looked up and grinned again.

"Well, I've never been to the beach...or seen the sea.." said Scarlet, uncertainty creeping into her voice and secretly a little afraid of what she had heard about the ocean. "I'd like to go, but perhaps tomorrow. I've traveled a lot today, and Swyncrest is a fair ride away. Maybe we could walk up to the palace, or into the city instead?"
Scarlet slid the bolt across Ember's stable, only just catching the broom before it clattered to the ground. She propped it back up against the door, unaware that it was a complete hazard for anyone walking down the row. "So, where shall it be?" she asked, starting to walk out of the stables, "And you can tell me what the sea's like on the way!" she added, smiling. Drakan's grinning face and enthusiasm seemed to have rubbed off on her and as they left the stables, all the unease about leaving Ember and exploring the city alone had left her.

Drakan was slightly embarrasses [once again] at his enthusism for the beach, especially as Scarlet did not want to go. But, seeing as she had invited him on a walk instead he grinned and replied "How about the city? to start with and then maybe the palace?" He followed Scarlet out of the stables, chatting as he went. "I've heard that the palace is the most beautiful building in all of the kingdom. It definitely is from the outside...cant wait to see inside!" Drakan was getting so caught up in his conversation that he forgot to look where he was walking. It wasnt long before the broom that Scarlet had propped against the wall was laying on the floor, with Drakan underneath. "Owww" he moaned looking sad and hurt.

"Looks like I'm making a habit of picking you up off of the ground!" she said smiling, and using both hands to pull Drakan up to his feet.
"O.K, so the city it is. I have no idea when anything is though, so you can lead!" she left the stables, back into the cool air. A slight breeze stirred her hair and for the first time, it hit her just how far away from home she was. The prospect, although startling, was also something that made Scarlet realise how much she didn't miss home. But then again, she hadn't been away for even a week yet.
(OOC: After you've replied here, Drakan, you can carry on wherever you like in the city)

Drakan thanked Scarlet for helping him up and rubbed his head. "Ouch" he moaned again and followed Scarlet out of the stables....carefully looking where he was going this time. "I dont know my way around Erivale too well either you know" he said smiling back at Scarlet. He liked her smile. It made he face light up...He realised he was staring and grabbed her hand "Come on!" he said pulling her playfully. "I'll race you!" he let go of her hand and sped off along the path to the city.

Laielyn rode slowly into the empty stables, yawning as the sun slid sleepily over the horizon and the moon peeked up over some distant hill. She was beginning to feel very tired; it had been a busy day and she had been travelled a long way.
Dismounting, she unsaddled Eryn and gently removed the bridle from her nose. "There girl..." She whispered softly. The mare had a beautiful grey coat, and Laielyn smiled to herself, admired it's healthy sheen as she ran a cloth over Eryn's back.
Breathing in the heavy, cloying smell of the fresh hay as she lead the mare down to a stable at the end, she hoped that her horse would be well cared for. She loved to ride, she had grown up with this horse, and couldn't bear it if anything were to happen to her.
The warmth of the stables had made her feel completely at home, and she couldn't help but feel a little sorrowful as she left. Now she had to find a place to stay...
