Sapphire walked into the stables leading the black horse. She snorted. She hadn't found her prey. She untacked the beast and put him into a stall. She leaned up against it putting one boot on the wall. Her black cloak wrapped around her as if a hungry python was her predator.

While Drakan was waiting for nelra to finish with Eclipse, he noticed a new face. He inroduced himself and asked if she needed any help. Drakan was not a man to ignore a pretty girl. "Im Drakan" he grinned and offered a mud streaked hand, he had been outside most of the day. He went on to explain the basic rules of the stable. "And you dont need to worry about food" he finished "If your horse is in here, me and nelra will feed her!".

She nodded. "Sapphire." she said. She tapped a foot and her sword clanked against the wall. She looked around. The horse she was riding stuck his head over the gate and pawed at it. She walked outside and threw her sword at a tree. She ran and jumped on it and climbed up the old oak.

Drakan watched, with a slight air of admiration for this girl who would rather climb a tree than sit under it. He shook his head with a smile and turned back to Nelra.

Nelra watched Drakan talking with this new girl. It seemed he had a thing for pretty girls, and she bet it would likely end up getting him in a lot of trouble some day. She waited patiently until Drakan had finished talking with the girl and turned back to her. "The orchard you say? Sounds good to me."
She started to turn towards the direction she was pretty sure the orchards lay, but then turned back. She grinned and asked, "Care to race there?" She hardly gave him a chance to answer before she had turned back around and set off in an easy run.

It was almost fully dark now, and Drakan decided to stop at the stables on his way home. He had to make sure the horses were well, as neither he nor Nelra had been there since lunch. He checked each stall individually and once he was satisfied that they were all alive, he set about giving each horse a handful of food pellets.
As he filled each horses bucket, he noticed that some horses-including Scarlets horse Ember, looked bored. He realised that now that several of his customers owned dragons, the horses spent the odd day cooped up in their stall. "I think you lot need a paddock!" he said out loud to the creatures, and tossing Arkis and Carmens horse- Ginger-a carrot each, he left.

Scarlet peered around the door to the stables. Meral had flown up ahead to the dragon keep and Scarlet had decided to take a moment to check on Ember. Satisfied that Drakan wasn't about, she made her way to embers stall.
"Hello there girl." she called, as Ember spun craned her neck out to see her. Scarlet unlatched the door and walked inside with the brown and white mare, holding out a large red apple that she had bought on the way. Whilst Ember munched the fruit, Scarlet chatted to her, standing by her side and running her hand down the entire length of her body to groom her. When she had finished, she leant against he stable door, plaiting strands of Ember's mane in silence.
After a few minutes, she stopped and rubbed a hand on Ember's velvety muzzle. "I'll be back soon." she promised, feeling guilty that she probably wouldn't. She hadn't visited Ember since she had returned from Swyncrest, and traveling was so much quicker from dragon back now...
Still, she didn't have the heart to sell her. The very idea upset her.I'll think of something she thought. Then she left the stables and headed across the palace grounds to the dragon keep.

Carmen walked into the stables, wearing her beautiful Purple gown she had borrowed from the seamistress. Do'nt Get it durty! Nexa had decided to go for a hunting trip and Carmen didn't want to bug her. "Draken?" she whispered, entering the stables. Then she heard a familiar whinny. "Ginger!" she said with glee. She picked up the edge of her dress and ran to her horse.
Her dress was a pale purple and strapless. It had a design of flowers on it and long gloves. She pulled out an apple from the bag she had and handed it to Ginger. Ginger chewed happily as Carmen took off her glove and scratched behind her ear.

Drakan entered the stables and saw Carmens bright head in Ginger's stall. "Carmen?" He called, not wanting to enter the stall for fear of dirtying his suit.
He was stunned when he saw what she was wearing. She looked even more beautiful than usual. "Wow" he breathed softly. His suit was traditional , black and white with a long jacket. he hadn't dressed up like this in a long time. Taking Carmens arm he asked "Shall we?"

Carmen smiled at Draken's wow. She left the bag full of apples for Ginger, taking out a small pacage before joining Draken. She held his arm softly, carrying the package in the other. "It's a gift for Princess Rosanne," She explained. Then she knew, by how Draken was dressed, that the night would be a magical one. "Lets go to the ball," she said, no longer smiling, but the sparkle never left her eyes.

Elizabeth had just changed out of her ball gown and had left it with the seamstriss who had lended it to her. She was dress in normal brone trouser and had a bag for all of her belongings. She strapped them to the back of her horse, Patches. "We're going away from the city girl. We're going back to your homelands, Faydell," Patches whinnied at the name of Faydell. We'll come back here for training and training only," She climbed onto the back of her horse and pinned a note to the door of the stall. The note read
Dear stable master, You must be at the ball, so here is the money for Patches staying here. Thank you for taking good care of her Liz
Then she rode out of the city.

Drakan entered the stables. He hadnt been here since before the ball, and he had missed the horses.
"Hello boy!" he said patting Arkis, who nuzzled his arm in return. He delved into his jacket pocket and threw an apple to his horse. Arkis was soon too engrossed in eating to notice drakan, and so Drakan went to check on some of the other horses.
Carmens horse, Ginger seemed to be excited to see him and he wondered if carmen had forgotten her since she became a dragon rider.
"Poor girl" Drakan said and tossed a second aple to her. Drakan wondered how Carmen was. They hadn't seen each other since the ball and he hoped she and nexa had sorted their differences.
Suddenly a thought ocurred to Drakan. "Nela?" he yelled hoping his stable hand was here.

Carmen walked into the stables. She had decided to take Ginger for a last run before setting her free. She saw Ginger chewing happily on an apple. "Hey girl," She said running over, pulling her long braided hair over her shoulder. She took the apple from her mouth and scratched her behind the ears. Then she began to take her from her stall, then she saw Draken.
Carmen smiled and pulled Ginger out of her stall. "Hey Draken!" she said to get his attention. "I'm taking Ginger out for the day, I'll be back tonight," Then she gave him a flashing smile, Her sparkling eyes looking into his before she walked outside, pulling Ginger along. Don't get to cocky, Nexa said in her head, which made Carmen's smile grow.

Scarlet hurried quickly into the stables to fetch Ember, who whinnied as she unlatched the door and stepped inside. She rubbed the end of her nose with a smile, then proceeded to saddle her with the tack hanging on the wall. As she led her out of the stables, she was checking to make sure she had left nothing behind when a voice shouting caught her attention. She knew straight away it was Drakan's, and as much as she didn't want to face him...
As she turned the corner, she saw him talking with Carmen and walked over. "Sorry for cutting in" she began, "I just wanted to thank you for looking after Ember." she pulled some coins from her pocket and handed it to him, "I know we don't have to pay, but..." she trailed off. She was thankful that Ember had been cared for so well, and tried not to let her annoyance with Drakan make her sound less grateful than she actually was.
"Can you thank Nelra as well for me," she added, before turning and leading Ember out of the stables. As soon as she was on Ember's back and riding away from the palace, she sent a thought to Meral, who she could tell was busy eating a steak up in the dragon keep. I'm off to Faydell, if you want to stretch your wings? she asked playfully, sending him a mental image of where she was. Faydell? Why not? Let me finish this and then meet you on the way.
